Oil Breather

Honda civic 1.7 CDTI - had problems with EGR valve twice in a year with excessive carbon build up.

Is there an oil breather on the block ?? Filter ?? Location

Any advice please

Re: Oil Breather

You're a little unclear? There's no breather. There is an oil filter but, if you haven't changed the oil and filter in a year that's probably your problem. Oil and filter should be changed regularly. Do a top-end cleaner (like sea-foam) and change your oil and filter.

A rich fuel/air mixture (running rich) can cause excessive carbon build-up. A bad internal part (piston ring, valve guide, etc) can also cause it.

possibly clogged pcv valve. its metal so you can take it off and spray with carb cleaner

I think the oil is the most important part in the engine to run engine smoothly . For that you have to change the oil within 7-8 months in the regular basis. And also the oil filter. So that the oil can run in the engine better. You should simultaneously check and reinstall the oil.

definitely take off and clean the PCV valve or maybe a crack in the hose running to it. the system runs off the vacuum created buy the air intake putting on a breather won't help much.

It's on the back of your block. Lay under the car, with front of the car above your stomach, head under your IM, look up. There should be a hose going to the back of your block. Heres a pic...
