Help with shift boot and knob

Well I just got my shift boot and shift knob in. The knob is an SI http://www.google.com/imgres?q=civic...t:429,r:2,s:15

I am having problems with figuring out how to connect the boot to the knob and get it to look clean. Any suggestions please! I have looked around but can't really figure out what I need to do.

I had the same problem so what I did was find a washer that fits passed the threads on the shifter pole but not father than them, so it'll stay at the bottom. Then I put it all together and the top of the boot is held up by the washer and you can screw the knob on. The knob when screwed on will hold it all in place

Grommets work as well.

Brian, how did you keep the boot connected to the washer?
