Um...take it to a dealer or repair shop and have them look at it. That light comes on when there is a problem with your ABS system, which is really something that should be looked at, considering it affects how your car stops moving...

jay78 04-20-2006 12:01 PM

thankx i will take it their then

02BLKCIVIC 04-20-2006 12:12 PM

Agreed BIG problem!!!

Dealer OR your trusted mechanic!

MagicRacing18 04-20-2006 12:29 PM

Mine came on once after being caught in a flash flood so I took it in to be safe just incase. Nothing was wrong, they just had to reset it, cost like 50 bucks for them to inspect it but worth every penny. Things like that should ALWAYS be checked out by the dealer. Good luck, hopefully nothings wrong and just needs to be reset.

try unplugging and plugging your bat then drive it around see if it come on. if so take it in.

jay78 04-20-2006 12:58 PM

bat ?

02BLKCIVIC 04-20-2006 01:04 PM

ya it's a good idea to try. :)

He wants you to reset your ECU!

unplug the bat. for about an hour (IMO) plug it back in start car, check for CEL (check engine light) :)

jay78 04-20-2006 01:17 PM

Do you have a code reader??? if not I would sudgest in investin in one! (e-bay $30)

So you can watch ALL CELS that come through.

Any who your cel due to your cat & your ABS are two seperate lights.

Un-plug you battery. Wait an hour. plug back in. Start car.

If the ABS is on still go to the dealer! :)

My ABS went on before after doing some FWD burnouts. I took the fuse out and disconnected the battery. After awhile it went away. I'm still not sure how I fixed it. hahahaa

MarkieMark 04-20-2006 02:04 PM

my abs light turns on when i first start the car then it disappears in like 2 secs.
is that normal? or should it be off all the time.

02BLKCIVIC 04-20-2006 02:17 PM

Yes it's normal.

All the light should come on for 2 sec...

jamie_civic 04-20-2006 04:15 PM

disconnecting the battery will not reset the ecu...that is obd I, we are obd II.....you need a scanner to read the code and find out what the problem is, fix the problem then clear the code.

02BLKCIVIC 04-20-2006 04:20 PM

Hmmm! only obd1 will reset hu...

if the car is OBD I which ours in NOT...then yes disconnecting the battery for a certain periode of time will reset the ecu....so if you want to clear codes on ours you need a scanner.

02BLKCIVIC 04-22-2006 12:59 PM

I have a scanner!

I understand my car is obd2!

Just clearifing...

jay78 04-25-2006 07:53 PM
