when to replace spark plug? I have a 01 Civic LX with ~ 67,000 miles on it. I have new tires and a new battery. How long do you think I should wait to replace the spark plug? Sometimes, while braking to a halt, the engine shuts off. Any advice! |
How long have U had the car. And if U have never done them and U have had it for long enough to put 67k miles on it U better do it now. WOW!!! |
The manual says either 105k or 110k, i forget. They can last this long, but i'd recommend replacing them earlier. I replaced mine at 90k and noticed a difference. So, If i were you i'd go ahead and replace them, but rest assured if you cant get to them, they'll be fine to go longer. The engine shutting off when you comes to a halt sounds like a much bigger problem, not the plugs. |
Change them right now. You will notice a huge difference in the performance of your car. You are way over due for changing them anyways. |
i change them every 30000 miles |
i asked the guy from honda. he said we dont need to change them until 105k because our sparkplugs are platinum something. i forgot. but yea, he said 105k. im sure you should replace them earlier though just because it becomes your car runs more efficient(should notice a difference if it is daily driven and gets beat up everyso often). |
its double platinum, while they can last upto 100k with normal driving, but the performance wont be the same as new ones obviously. the only reason platinum is around has to do with car companies wanting to advertise longer service interval and because on some trucks it takes 4 hrs just to change the plugs. since on a civic it takes 5 minutes, i usually change mine once a year with some $2 copper plugs. |
damn i over bye 2,500 ill change them this weekend... |
Every 3k miles is whenever I change mine. Once a year, thats kinda long dont cha think?? |
Valdeezy-- what every 3k thats must get expensive... |
not really. I do it with every oil change along with the filter. My plugs are were dirty as hell last time I changed them. I use the Bosch 2 plugs. I have tried different plugs these seem to work the best. |
