Fuel Gauge

I know its a pretty newbie question but when my fuel gauge is in the red...how much liters of fuel do i have left ?:o
I heard some say 10l..thats why im so confused.

I know its a pretty stupid question.:_doh:

not sure usually around 60km worth enough to find a gas station fast lol

i8dabomb 06-04-2006 04:27 PM

i believe it's 3 gallons but my gauge isnt that accurate i dont think

gearbox 06-04-2006 06:11 PM

whats a gallon? :)

DDragon7 06-07-2006 02:34 PM

I think its like 10 litres when the light goes on.

diskreet 06-07-2006 02:46 PM

10 litre = 2.64172051 US gallon

Google FTW

nick95673 06-07-2006 02:48 PM

I normally go about 15 miles after the light comes on. and have never run it dry

AHHH! 8th grade science flashback!

Q1. 10L = ?G :screwy:

I cant wait till the US switches to metric, if it ever does, cause everything I do is in metric (engineering work at least) and its annoying.

Kevbotron 06-07-2006 03:11 PM

Wont happen; Because the last time they tried the country nearly blew up

diskreet 06-07-2006 03:20 PM

We could change any day. No one is forced to accept US measurements, and I have yet to really use our stupid system outside of lumber and some occasional bolts.
Most measurements, if they are important, are already done in metric. I have seen many machines use everything in metric.
The metric system makes complete sense. Everything is uniform, standardized efficiently, and relates to one another. The US system is all over the place, and nothing ties together neatly. Its a mess.

lbf=lbm?

Every time my light comes on I fill the tank... It takes 10.5-10.85 gallons to fill the tank at that point. So I'd guess around 3 gallons. Enough to get me to work and back for a few days.

stock 06-12-2006 01:19 AM

3 US gallons or 10 litres is left.

kiluminati001 06-12-2006 01:42 AM

to add to dexters math - our car's (well at least the 2001s) gas tanks are approximately 13.5 gallons so if u *really* wanna find out exactly - the next time the light turns on - fill your car up and see how many gallons of gas u filled. whatever that number is - subtract it from 13. multiply that number by the average mpg stated for your car and u'll know exactly how many miles it will give you after the light turns on the next time. this is assuming the light turns on at approximately the same place each time.

You shouldnt let it go into the red anyway... cant it make the cat converter heat up and possibly cause a fire? Thats what I read...

gearbox 06-12-2006 09:10 PM

well no its more the fuel pump will heat up cause the fuel is there to cool it off..
