Is Honda ATF, synthetic? EDIT: I SEARCHED FOR HOW MANY QUARTS TO ADD WHEN CHANGING... SOMEONE SAID ADD 3 THEN CHECK THE LEVEL... I ADDED 3 AND IT WAS WAY OVER THE LINE. so does anyone know how many quarts of atf to add when changing? is it just 2? or 2 1/2? 3 is definitely to much |
I've heard bad things about using non-honda atf in the d17 auto trannies. and no, I don't think it's synthetic |
Since you're using the ATF-Z1... you must use 2.5 Litres. I myself put 2.6 Litres. Just drain it like oil, then get a funnel and stick where the dipstick goes and drop in 2.5 - 2.6 LITERS. I don't have the bottle infront of me, but to save you the confusion, put 2.5 - 2.6 bottles. As for being synthetic, I'm not sure... but it doesn't matter, you should only use the Honda ATF-Z1 anyway. |
how many quarts? however much it takes to fill the level to max when the engine is running and warmed up. |
thanks, i dont know, i flushed it, put in 3 and it was way over, flush it again, put in 2 and it was way under... then i put in 2.5 and it was right on the line... hope i didnt mess anything up driving it with only 2 in there for a lil bit. :( |
either way i think i finally got my tranny running good, just have to let it warm up becuz it shifts like crap when its cold, otherwise, i think im good to go. |
leave in d3 to warm it faster |
the auto tranny takes 2.9 quarts on a drain and fill. I just add all 3 quarts in and it is a small amount above the line which is no cause for concern. |
