Basically if you're have a daily driver...your chances of winning are slim to none. The judges are harsh as fugg....one tip i can tell you. 90% of the time they check the front passenger side rim for curbs or scratches...so just switch one of your good rims to that position. Also you get points if you have rims with a polished lip or else you get no points at all. That info was from my friend who is a judge for hot import nights.

To be honest, not to crush hopes or anything.....it is EXTREMELY hard for someone to compete in the civic class yet alone to have a 7th gen as your competiton car. The only real fair car show IMO is Nopi where they actually seperate cars into generations to compete. I entered my car knowing that I wouldn't win, but I wanted to help support my team for best team represent. But since you are setting your sights on showing in aug., then good luck. Advice for preparing for the show......clean EVERYTHING~!~......they check on the underside of your fenders, they check under your skirts, they check around your exhaust. Simply, they check everything...to help you make everything look cleaner, use a lot of armor all or black magic on parts such as your rain gutters, the door trims, the windshield wipers, etc. Lastly....don't hound the judges, just be real chill with them.....talk to them like they your friend lookin at your car and you describe to them what they should know to be impressed. Besides that, I wish you the best of luck on the show. Hope this helped......Oh yeah....one last thing......don't forget to clean your engine bay......that's some mad points too.....they like to see the color theme in the bay as well as the rest of the car so hoses are a plus. Good Luck

You forgot to mention about display. You display is what grabs the attention on the car. You need to get the judges attention and need to make them want to look at the car. There are lots of car at a show so you want to try and make your car look different from the others. Having tricked out trunks, hoods, special lighting, sounds, anything that gets attention you should display. I try and be different by setting up my car dirrerently from others. Here is my car at Autofest San DiegoCar Pic .
On the more honest side, your better off entering into smaller shows and winning prizes and awards. If you enter into Hot Import Nighs, Import Revolution, or any other big shows, dont count on winning unless you know a judge, which sad to say happens alot, or you car is just off the hook. Remember, judging is based on what they find or think they like and not necessary what others may like. All in all good luck and hope to see you at a show soon.

Hey Shadow
I saw your ride there, but I didn't see anyone around it to talk to. I was showing there as well with Team Showcase.
Here's my pic
Iceman.... what they are sayin is absolutly right. The judges are going to rub thier fingers under your side skirts and everything.
Take the white gloves to the car.

I would have to admit, winning is like the desert, it is nice to have. I would say being able to show off your car and having tones of people jock it is what you show for. That is the main reason why I show. I like to win, dont get me wrong, but I like the pride and satisfaction feeling of seeing people enjoy and appreciate you ride.

I'm totally with HShadow on winning being the desert, and entering a show to just have people appreciate your ride. But it might be interesting to see someone just drive in there and leave the car as is...unwashed and all...ha ha......maybe you should try that troung......... but then again, there was a red eclipse at extreme that was red with a primered kit ad that's all it had. so i dunno....

I think that winning is good, but you should show just feel better about your car and show people what you have accomplished. You dont really need to win to feel good about your car. As long as you have a fun time thats all that matters, but of course winning would be nice.

Yah i go just to have fun winning is just a bonus but other then that i like working hard and noticing my car get better and better. Dont worry one day you will win it takes alot to win and there is always next time.
it sucks showing next to someone with a kaminari hood cause at HIN in san diego my car got no attention cause the other 2k1 three cars over had the hood. I found a conclusion though, i bought it lol. Shows are definately for fun especially if your not a person that has tons of money to **** away. I talk to the show winner at hin and he said he invested over 30 grand in his car before he got sponsered. Im approaching 20 grand going to 28 soon so i better get a damn sponser lol.
I seriously dont understand why some people show like that red eclipse you talked about, there was a green eclipse with only airbags at HIN. He still had stock hub caps lol.

Skillz, you register online. they will send you confermation on the resigtration and will also send you info on roll in and other info that has changes as the show get closer to the date. When you get to the event on roll in day you check in at a booth they will have set up, roll in your car, and quick detail it. You will have plenty of time to fully detail the car the day of the show before it starts. Hope that helps you out.
