want to put a clear led in my oem spoiler like the Mazda 6

What does everyone think? I want a clear one like the Mazda 6, that will light up red when on, but I'm wondering where I might find the supplies. Anyone got any ideas?

have you taken the led assembly out from the spoiler? i dont have one but they might be clear when off and red when on and there's just a red lens covering them...

anyways...

http://www.allelectronics.com has a good selection..i've ordered from them before

i think that idea sounds pretty cool...it would look especially nice with uk tails...

edit...

oo oo...found a good site

http://www.ledtronics.com/

some of their listings arent finished yet i guess..it would be best to give them a call

edit #2:

dude check this site out...i wanna do this to my stock tails...

http://home.attbi.com/~jbipes/ttr/ledtails.html

in case you didnt notice i get off on this electrical stuff...

Hmmm... that would look sweet. The horseshoe looking LED light pack would be bad ***. I would pay someone to do that to mine. Actually, i have another set of stock tails i could work on. I'll give it a shot when i'm bored one day. The only problem is the socket assembly. How would i make that? Anyone in IL close to o'hare wanna give it a shot with me?

Thats really funny that you posted this. I actually just took the brake light off of my spoiler to check it out because i've been wanting to replace it with a white lens for a while. When i took it off it was sealed up pretty well just like the stock tail lights. Its not possible to open it up without cutting it or something. Theres a total of 24 LEDs in there. I guess you would have to fabricate an outer clear casing to do this. I going to find out how i could make something like that.

hell i'd just scotch lock it further down on the wires themselves leaving the sockets intact...

edit...

i saw those lights before, but i'm talkin about makin the sockets for the full LED tails like these:

LED lights

Made into the horseshoe shape of the brakelight. I would keep the red housing, but use the euro spec tails and get the hyperwhite LEDs for the turn signal and reverse light.

I was actually talking today with my buddy about taking my old OEM tails appart and putting LEDs in. But I wanna do it like the Audi that has clear light and light up red/amber. I'll use the old OEM's for now and if everything works out well I'll buy TYCs or something and take the clear cover off of those.

Buy the LEDS bulb and take out the LEDS and just use the socket. Connect the socket to the LEDS board w/ wires

can u do that? arent the LEDs soldered in place? i'm gonna be using prolly more than 3 times the LEDs that are in those sockets. I'm not really good with electronics, but i usually do a good job building stuff

i bet you'll have to play around with the resistors a bit to get it right...i plan on using an old computer power supply that spits out 12V 5amp and testing it with that...
