air conditioner problem
Well I was on my way home yesterday, and it seemed that everytime I accelerated from a stop my air conditioner would spit out hot air for a couple seconds. Anyone know what could be wrong?

Could be a couple of things, if you're low on r134a refrigerant the compressor will cut off under a heavy load, but if you get hot air right as you accelerate than its another problem.
There's a motor under the dash that controls the air mixture and another that controls the air direction (defroster, front vents, floor vents etc.) It possible the air mixture module is malfunctioning and letting warm air in a few seconds then closing back off.
I used to be all of the air mixture controls were run off of engine vacuum, but the Civic is all electric.

That happens to me and the car is only a year old. I think if you step down on the gas enough, it will automatically turn off until you let up the throttle.
My A/C cuts off momentarily (occasionally) under heavy acceleration. It blows non-refrigerated (but not hot) air for few seconds until I get up to speed; this is pretty much only when I gun it, though -- like sometimes when I'm getting on the highway or pulling out into a lot of traffic.
My Olds used to do that, too, so I assumed that it was normal.

What I've noticed is if I'm on the highway, keeping a steady speed, my a/c will go off for about 2 minutes then come back on for about 2 minutes which really sucks down here in Texas because all it takes is 2 minutes and your sweating. Anybody else have this problem?
Hey guys, I had this problem. I took it into the service center and they said my AC was OVERCHARGED. If somebody overcharges your AC, or it comes from the factory that way, the system shuts off temporarily so it doesnt explode. Get it drained and refilled to the correct level. I got mine done under warranty since I've never had the AC serviced.
