"The undisputed lightness of aluminum"

Now I know why OZ says that.... I put them on the bathroom scale... 36 lbs with the tires. 15" 2000 Si wheels with tires are 35... so my car has gained 4 lbs, and I've gone up 2" in rim size, 1" wider, and 40mm per tire wider. Impressive...

Unfortunately, my car is still probably slower because of it... but oh well.
Here's the proof so no one calls BS.

you jacked up your car and took the wheel off to weigh it? lol?

Nope... rotating tires, just took the opportunity to do it while they were already off.

I don't think it makes all that much difference... only time I notice it is in the corners... and the 17's are faster since the tires don't break loose (Firestones suck)...
Its probably less than 1 MPH difference if any at all... I just wish I could drive on 17's year round so I can get bigger brakes, but I don't want to buy a second set of cheap 17's, so I gotta drive on my Si rims in the winter.

Well, I've got summer tires which wouldn't fare too well in the snow, and out here, they'll throw anything on the roads in the winter... salt, sand, dirt, anything they can find. It did a pretty good job ****ing up the clearcoat on my other rims, I wouldn't drive through that crap with my Superleggeras.

nice work. would you have considered 16" just to keep your car at an advantage? or are they just too small for your interest?

did you lower your ride too? (i think you did, not sure)

I did consider 16's... I almost bought 16" Volk CE28Ns... but I had a couple of friends talk me out of it since these are pretty much just for the street. I'm only going to be racing on these this year, then next year I'm going back to 15's with sticky tires. Car isn't lowered yet, I gotta wait until July when my Dad's BMW comes in.... he's been driving my car around since we're short one (broken) and if I started putting Teins in and messed up, we'd be 2 short.

well i don't want to lower my car till my warrantee's up. so for the time being i want to pick up some 16" wheels for the summer, and go back to my hubs/steelies for the winter.

plus, i want the advantage of having somewhat of a "quicker" wheel.
