Just installed HID's in projectors.....

I just installed a set of Xenon H1 6000k HID's into my TYC projectors. OH MY GOD!!!! It's like night and day! For all those people that said the beam patter would suck in stock TYC's are wrong. Nice straight cut off and bright as all hell. Xenon is also the company that supplies HID's to BMW's, Porche, and Mercedes. This is by far the brightest HID I have ever seen. Even though the Kalvin is 6000, it still puts out 3500 lumens!!! Stock halogen bulbs only put out 1300 lumens. I suggest this kit to anyone that is looking for HID's. I only paid $399 for the kit too. For everyone that wants pics, I'll see if I can get my digital cam to work. Anyone that lives near me in southern NH, I'll meet up with ya.

Oh ya, one last thing. I had to some modification (cutting) to the actual bulb housing. PM me for further info if interested.

6000k HID Do Not put out 3500 Lumens..... more like 2800K... hell... Stock 4100K only put out 3200 Lumens!! And Philips makes OEM components for BMW, Mercedes, and Audi's..

Sorry pal but you're wrong. Xenon makes HID for BMW. I have a friend that's a Tech for Tulley BMW in NH. Some of them do use Phillips ballasts. And yes, they do put out 3500 lumens. It says it right on the box and in the manual. Don't come at me like you're some all knowing HID god. As soon as I get my digital cam working, I will prove you wrong.

Well, the HID bulb itself is larger then the H1 bulb. I had to cut the bottom part of the metal bulb housing to make the little rod thing on the HID bulb to fit. Wasn't too bad. Trial and error pretty much. The second type of modification was done to the rubber water resistant casing that encloses the bulb. I had to cut out a small circle for the wires and the water resistant plug supplied in the kit to fit. If I had to do this installation again it would take no time at all. The whole installation took about 5 hours believe it or not. I'd love to do this again if someone ever needs help near me.

Don't believe everything you read. It's impossible to get that much lumens from such a high kelvin rating. Going from halogen to HID it's like night and day, but drive side by side next to a BMW or Audi with factory 4100k HIDs and you'll be shamed. When I had 8000k and 6000K H1 HID in my TYC I thought it was the bomb, but now I have the Audi A6 units and it's totally different.

Actually I bought it at a local performance shop. He carries all of the well known HID kits such as Phillips and Hella. He recommended this kit over them all!

Do you have pics of the box?

(Also Philips , doesn't make kits, they make components for kits.)

I will get picks of everything when I get my digital cam to work. Also as far as I know Phillips makes bulbs, ballasts, and starters. That looks like a kit to me.

But they don't sell kits... that's the thing that people will try and "sucker" people into... "Vendors" say..... "Hey this is a Philips kit" but Philips doesn't actually sell a kit...

Thumbs up

Here are some threads regarding my HID installation in stock healights. The results are surprisingly good.

You just have to remember to re-aim your headlights after the installation.

It's cool that the HID's put out more light, but I rather have a kit with a higher color rating because the blue/ purple color like on the BMW's look awesome from different angles and a distance.

all OEM HID is 4100K - 4300K. How they acheive the "color" is by the design of the headlight housing.

Oh and Speedracersong... you're still lookin..

Actually the color is achieved in how high the kelvin rating is. 4100-4300 is white, anything above is blue or purple, I think mtec.com has a chart on their website.

i know about the kelvin rating.. but what I'm saying is that, the design of the headlight housing has a lot to do with the "color" also.

He stated this:

All OEM HID is 4100K - 4300K... so how do they get the "blue/purple color" by the design of the projector. I have seen on older Lexus cars that some had really blueish look to them and those housing were reflector's... it's the way they are designed. Thats why when people ask "Will it look good in my stock housing" everybody usually says "no" because our housing's were not made for HID.
