B18 in a 7th gen

B serie engine is a bit more common than the newly K serie engine, maybe cheaper too. One thing u have to consider is that the year of the engine have to be newer than the year of the car for you car to be consider legal in the states. For example, you cannot put a motor from a 2001 ITR into a 2002 Civic.

Rep Power: 0 haha, I am with you konstanting. It will take me a few years before I have enough to get a new K serie engine. But it kinda sucks when my car have no engine mods except a "ghetto" intake because i don't want to buy anything that i have to take out later.
of course there is more mods for the b series right now...the K series has only been out for maybe 2 years...i know a B18 VTEC motor has been out since atleast 95. The K series is the way of the future, Honda did its homework before puttin it together. Just slap on any mod on that motor, and look at the responce that it has. They havent seen boosts in power like this out of any B series thats for sure. Plus the K20A2 has 200hp...the best a b series can do is 195hp in the type R motor.
Stick with the K series, you will be suprised. And companies have huge plans for the motor, its just that most of the parts are still being made, but even now, you can get most anything on the k series that you can get on a B series. Supercharger? Jackson Racing will have it out in June (talked with them myself about it), Turbo...talk about 260-270WHP from 5 psi., cams, flywheels, intake, race headers, exhausts, ECU upgrades....as i stated before, its only been out for 2 years and look at the attention its getting. I think "B-series what?"

But I agree... starting stock with 200 HP and an extra 200cc displacement, this should be a no brainer decision. Besides, as the B gets older, fewer parts will continue to come out, the engines will become harder to find and more expensive... meanwhile the K will be running in full swing. If I do actually do a swap ( a few years off for sure), it'd be a K20A2, or an equivelant plant, should a new, better one get released later.

Rep Power: 0 If someone's made engine mounts for the B18 (or you get custom mounts) you can do it. It would also be advisable to change the tranny & axles, apart from the suspension & other bits.. (this motor is heaver than a K20) just my .02 cents

Rep Power: 0 I just asked because i can get a b18 with upgraded internals for about 4000 installed. But that price was for a 96-00 civic swap. How much more do you think they would charge me for my 01 civic.

For 10k I'd rather build my SOHC D17.
All turbo motor, dumping anywhere between 300-350hp.
Get a SF turbo kit, few internals (when they come out), dial up the boost, and watch. And if you are really into it, search for LSD.

the only swap that i have heard of that took 10 grand was the very first one by HTown...and of course this is going to be really expensive, he probably had the most labor done on his car, and with all the custom stuff...im actually suprised it didnt cost more.
Now that the mount kit is out, swaps are going as low as 5 grand if not lower. I just depends on the motor that you get. My swap with everything is gonna cost a little under 5 grand. Just thought that you should know

Thats just what im gonna do, i was gonna have it all legal and what not, but its too much trouble, plus i want a race header on my car after i do my swap...mmm 16whp just from a header....mmmmm.

The K20a run around 7k for the engine alone, but the JDM B18c1 runs for about 2.3k with 180hp, with the money you save you could do quite a bit but as alot of people have said before "If you have the money, do it right the first time". But still paying 7k for an engine still makes me quiver but wait a few years. =p
