i have become a professional at casually rubbing my arm/shoulder on the top of the door as i am getting out of the car. i think it's a lot less suprising that way (even if my girlfriend gets jealous).

all you need to do is touch the black frame around your window when getting out of your car. you don't need to rub or caress it. look, when you move around in your seat, you're building up static. the second you leave your seat, you're gonna fall victim to a shock, unless you're touching somethign metal BEFORE you move to get our of your seat. what I do is open the door, take my left hand and grab ahold of the top frame of the window, as if i was gonna use it to help support myself while getting out of the car. once you've made contact with the metal, you're grounded, so you're static free as long as you're touching it. after you're out of your seat, let go. bingo, that's how to get out of your car in less than a second without getting shocked. I've done it so many times it's just second nature-- i don't even think about it anymore. I advise you try to do the same. getting in, it's the same deal. the MORE you move around in your seat the more static you're gonna build up. so just ground yourself before you get out of your seat.
about that static electricity release antenna.. i've never heard of it, and I don't see how it will eliminate the static. maybe I just need more info.

Exactly like Mex says. It happens to all cars.
Open the hood, and grab the metal frame above the window before leaving your seat .
Problem solved..i do it everytime i get out. Make it a habit.

You could also rub your seats with an anti static sheet (the kind you put in the dryer) or get some anti static spray from radio shack. Or you could just touch metal while getting out. Or..and this one is what I do. Suck it up and take the small shock you pansy!

Actually, someone told me that you can get rid of the shock by sitting on a sheet of fabric softner...you know like Bounce sheets you put in the dryer.
