Question How to read the Code?

Hi all,

any how I can read the code on my civic 99 without scan tool?
I read that in cars before 96 you can read the code by "blinking" Engine Check Light.
Any how I can read it from my car?

In CA AutoZone or etc. shops do not run any scan services at all

options :
1. some how read the code
2. go to Honda Service or other mechanics - need to pay some $$$
3. buy code reader - simple one for $53. that can read OBD II - not sure will it read my Civic...
4. buy OBDScan - OBD II adapter and S/W - around $150.
5. etc.

what option you can reccomend to go ?

tnx

Michael.

same way, it's been a while but you open a little pannel down by your feet, and you turn a screw (i think its a screw) and the check engine light will blink.

I would reccomend buying a hayes manual....

is this right one?

Haynes Honda Civic 1996-2000 & Acura Integra 1994-2000 (Haynes Automotive Manual)

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...glance&s=books

then I'll place my order for it

what about Chilton - Chilton's Honda Civic and Del Sol 1996-00 Repair Manual

which one is better one?

tnx

That one should do the trick

It probably doesn't really matter which brand, you can probably also check them out in the auto section of your local library....

Both should tell you how to do it...

I want to say we used the Hayes (I put a JR blower on my buddies '97 back in like '98 so my memory is a little foggy - I can't beleive it was 5 years ago!!!!)
