can't close carbon fiber hood all the way
i just bought a c-wings carbon fiber hood and when i tried to close it, i won't shut all the way. i did a search and found a link, which did not work, which was sopoused to be about changing some spring in the latch to make it fit. does anyone know what spring to change? also, are there any other ways to make it fit.
btw: the hood is a c-wings hood. i tried to return it, but F**king gtp said they won't take it back or exchange it.

did you try the hood levelers??
they screw in and out to adjust the height of the hood in the front...maybe they are too far out for this hood compared to oem (try turning them clock-wise all the way in and close hood)...if that works, then adjust them counter-clock-wise to align the hood to the fenders and so it still closes

dude, stay away from there hood! it comes with no trim piece, hood has buff marks everywhere, underside has paint marks they even covered holes with tape and painted them over! the hood also has a gap between the passenger fender and the hood. email me at bidwal_j@sbcglobal.net if you want to see pics of it.

we had this exact same problem with my buddies carbon hood on his 99 EX.
as it turned out, after much work trying ot move aroudn the latch, it turned out that the bar on teh carbon hood was far larger than teh stock hood latch. so it PHYSICALLY wouldnt go in.
i dunno if this is yrou same problem..
the worst thing to do to get it to fit would be to notch teh piece. i suggested this, and found out that it wears the latch faster, till the hood eventually fails, and goes flying away.
the guys eventually had to notch teh stock latch inside the engine compartment, did it with an air saw, nothing else would fit, and went through several blades cutting the hardened steel.
good luck man, it took us several hours ot fit it in.

This happened to mine from kaminari, it would shut passed the saftey first latch but not all the way down. I had to bend the latch on the car back (just by hand) and look with a flashlight to see the two pieces match up.

my2k1, sounds like youve got his exact problem. if bending it works on 7th gen, more power to ya, thats definitely preferable if just as reliable to our fix, cause it was really really really really really a pain for us.

thanks for your help guys, looks like i fixed the problem! i just removed all the rubber pieces that support the stock hood ( i guess those are the hood levelers because you can raise those up and down). now i can close the hood all the way down! it still sticks up a little from the sides, but thats only because i don't have any pins to push it down more. once i install the pins, everything should be fine.

i can understand that.....if you don't have a garage (i don't i live in my own house, i live on a air force base in the dorms), buy a car cover...that will help out alot...

the spring, grey made them, he made 2 and sold one to me, and used one for himself (that reminded me grey, want that feedback? LOL)
it was a softer spring than the factory latch spring, and it was very easy to replace. before i brought the spring from him, i would have to actualyl push very hard to close the hood, infact i won't be successful most of the time, after i got the spring, it became easier, and i also moved the latch a tad up. i think you might have to remove the front bumper tor each the 2 bolds holding the latch onto the engine bay
