jack up car for diy rear anti-sway bar?
jack up car for diy rear anti-sway bar?
do u have to jack up the car or put it on jack stands or a lift or whatever if u install the rsx rear anti-sway bar. i searched and found diy's that have the car on jack stands. if i did it without lifting the car, would it cause any problems. do they lift the car to make it easier to work on or becasue u need to take the weight off the car when installing or swapping the anti-sway bar, thanks

If you jack up the car the suspension will uncompress, and caues the Anti-rollbars to go in to their "Loaded" position and they will be harder to remove and install. I would sugest that you jack up the car then Place some wood blocks under the wheels and drop the car back down on those. that way the car will be high enough to workon but the suspenson will be compresses, so the Anti-rollbars will be in their "Nutural"positon and be much easyer to work with.

No it doesn't. Make sure you don't put it on upside down like I did!! haha. When you jack up the car and the bar isn't in "loaded position" it is hard to tell if it is the right way or the wrong way.

ya Robbclark is right. Sorry didint know what I was thinking. An Anti-rollbar goes in to the Loaded position when one side compresses/decompresses. so if you were to try to jack up one side, and work on the bar, thats when the bar would be loaded and hard to work with. Every body gets to be wrong ocationally.

Yep, I concor. Whether the suspension is compressed or not doesn't affect the sway bar loading at all. It's only when one side is compressed more than the other does it matter. As long as both sides are even you're all set to install it whichever way pleases you.

thanks guys
wait...I just took a look at it, and the left side looks to be almost shaped differently? maybe its my eyes and the time of night?
actually, no way, it does look a bit different. is this normal? should i take a pic of it?
man, it would suck if it's the wrong one
ok, i looked at the type S bar I have, and compared it to the type R bar I have, and they're the same shape.
I'm hoping that if the Type S fits, the Type R will as well
seems logical, but with my luck, you never know.

Remember you need an allen wrench to get the bolts of the endlinks. Do you have a DIY for the bar? If not http://www.xenja.com/7thgencivic_RSX..._DIY/index.htm
