I wanna go faster but it wont let me. everynight i drive home and theres one part with a decent hill so one time i just stomped it. i hit 115 and baaauuuwwwww... car starts jerkin and slows down to bout 80. GOD DAMN GOVERNOR. I checked jetchip.com and they dont have ****. anybody on here know about ecus? 115 is weak so somebody help me.

#1 - You won't need to worry about a governor when you hit a patch of ice/water/leaves at 115. You'll be good and dead.

#2 - Why do our stupid speedometers go up to 140+ if they can't go past 115? I'd sooner have it go up to 120 (like my '95) and have it readable when I hit odd numbers (30-50-55-70-75) </rant>

I understand, I was forever stuck at 116mph. I was so excited to get my DC sports header and now I am stuck at 113MPH! I don't get it, I am even like where you are, at a hill that you always try to go your fastest at

you know what your problem is? youre only running a header with no other mods...plus your header sucks. thats why youre stuck at 113. ive gotten it to 120 before though, then i backed down. but mine never really jerks or rattles or anything though and i dont have any strut or sway bars.

I have the following on my car:
AEM pulleys
AEM SRI
DC Sports Header
UR Crank Pulley
full suspension (sway bars, springs)
wheels and tires

You may think that my header "sucks" but with all of the other mods I have (almost all that they make for our cars at this point) then could you be going down a hill when you reach 120??????

well youd be contradicting yourself by saying you installed your dc header and you lost speed and not saying it sucked. the dc header for our cars is the same size piping as stock so you basically wasted money buying it.

All I have to say is that why can't everyone just get along? This is a forum to talk about different issues w/ our cars, you may not think that the header is any help but being rude isn't getting anyone any tips on their cars. I think it rocks that your car gets to 120, I want mine to go that fast and I am buying the basic mods on my journey to be there. I respect your opinion but I just don't understand why it's sounding hostile..........

well its still a civic. and any speed higher than 130mph is insane. the car is very light, and you can't tell what'll happen.
but at 127mph, it still feels rock steady though.

I dont seem to have that trouble, Mine cuts off at about 126-7. I have an 01 Auto Ex- only mods that I have done is an aem sri, and a magnaflow cat-back system.

ya man, so agree with you, wtf is wrong with you "R3DL1N3". So what if he has DC headers and he is going slower. This is an issue, a problem for other members to solve or comment on it. He's not asking if his header sucks or not. Are you gonna start flameing everyone that has dc headers now?

Got mine to about 127mph. The engine doesn't shake rattle or stop it just stops pulling and kinna cruises along at a 6ish rpm.

You shouldn't be able to go any faster than the amount of horsepower available in your car. Now that would be some funny ish. Remember that video of the guy with the 1200 mustang with the jet like sounding engine, imagine his drive to work if this theory was reality.

do manuals have a govenor too? or is it just the auto's? I have a 02 civic lx and have got mine up to 178km/h didnt try to go any faster I was to paranoid of cops! dont know how many miles that is!

but i also have this one problem too...
my little 1.7 doesnt really have enough torque to pull in 5 gear...
it just kinda slowly drifts faster, i mean i get to 90 fast, then 110 isnt that far away, but god damn, it was ages before i crept up to 119.

if you really wanna go fast, im with the others, get another car...

i didnt get my civic cause i wanna run low 8's in the fourth...

i got it cause i drive a **** load and i dont feel like paying 15-20 bucks for gas every 2 hours cuase i got **** milage...

I've only been up to 105, and that was redline in 3rd, but I have an HX so I still had all of 4th gear to go through, and then 5th... though 5th would be useless. I wonder what the fastest someone's gotten in an HX

I have no idea why you guys are having problems getting over 115mph. I own a 2001 EX Coupe and a few months after I had bought it I had already had put my 17" konigs on it but other than that it was stock. I took it accross one of our bridges that cross the bay and I had it up to 137mph before I had to start slowing down.
