Heh, so the 3rd synchros in my 02 EX went causing some gnashing....
The guys down at the shop fixed it under warranty, called me "the butcher" and sent me packing...
About a week later I was backing into a spot and the whole car slammed to stop, so I get out - I didn't hit anything... Check for dead bodies under the car....again nothing...Oh well
So I back into the spot, go watch a movie, and drive home.
The next day there is gear oil ALL OVER the garage!
So I take it down, turns out the little detent ball that holds the shifter in gear on deceleration fell out, droped down between the reverse gear and input shaft, destroying them, and then shot out the side of the transmission...
So I figured they would replace the tranny right... Get this, they (being Honda) don't stock trannys, the dealer had to order ALL of the parts seperate and build me a new tranny!!!!

That sucks. Sorry to hear about the situation your in. I'm really beginning to wonder how much longer my manual tranny is going to hold up. I also have an '02 EX and its not too comforting to continually read threads about the transmission problems some 7th gen Civic owners are experiencing.
Good luck with getting your tranny built (again) by Honda. Couldn't the factory have made a good quality tranny the first time?...freakin' amazing!
