After getting ground kit on 02 Civic...whats the best 17inch tire size for cusion?
Hey guys, I'm going to put a ground kit on my 02 civic and I'm more concerned about my car when it comes to potholes and such as thats why I'm getting 17inch tires plus I want my tires to last me a long time.
A friend of mine has some Nitto 215/45ZR/17 tires he will sell me for $375.
Do you think I should go for his tires which he bought 2 months ago or should I upgrade the tires to 220/45ZR/17 for the best cushion?

Rep Power: 0 agreed, a 215/45 or a 205/45, 225 will be a tight fit depending on if it is lowered or not, but some peeps on this site have 225's and have no problems at all. up to you really.

17's and no drop will look goofy... just so you know.

I didn't think it was going to be nearly as noticable as it is. Mine are on 215/45 tires. Bigger rims make the gap seem larger.

With the 225-45-17 you are going to rub when you make a trun. And the tires are going to look pretty big. I would go with 205-40-17 or 215-40-17 215-45-17

Rep Power: 320 215/45R17 is a good compromise between low profile and good cushioning. Keep in mind that you might rub depending on how low your car is. I'm running 215/45R17 tire on 17x7x42mm offset wheels. I have about 1/4 finger gap on the front and it rubs during hard turning and bumps in the road. Check my ride page for pics.

Rep Power: 425 If you're really that worried about potholes, then get 16" wheels with 205/55/16 or get 15's. If you get a quality set of 17" wheels, and you watch the road in front of you, I seriously doubt you'll have problems with potholes. 225's are too wide. They're gonna rub. And don't plan on having 17" tires last you along time. Most low profile tires are performance tires that are good for about 30K... with few exceptions.

Rep Power: 0 there are many people on this board with 18s and 19s. if they aren't rubbing, then i can't imagine having that many problems with 225 17s rubbing. Have they maybe modded thier wheel wells?
