exhaust and rattling noise

ok, i know about the rattling or vibrating noise that comes from the midsection pipe when it gets wet. but which aftermarket exhaust suffers from this. i read somewhere that it was all of them? is this true because i guess i will just go with an axle back to avoid this issue. i have enough vibrations in my car. can u guys post the exhaust u have if you are having this rattling/vibrating sound from rainy weather?

many members (myself included) have had this problem for some time now. there were a few threads posted in vehicle problems/issues. for me, i think a part of the pipe is rubbing against the body of my car (or that's what it seems like to me). i recently put a cloth between those 2 parts today and notice less of the knocking sound when i go on bumpy roads. to answer your question, yes, getting an axle-back exhaust can prevent this from happening. i'm assuming that my problem is due to the routing of my exhaust piping

I also get that noise with my greddy exhaust. I've gone to honda and many other places. No one can figure out the problem. They also tell me that the exhaust is hitting somewhere but can do nothiing about it. Anyone found a solution with this.

One good reason not to put "custom" exhaust.

I have the HKS axle back and get the same problem. The exhaust shakes and taps against the frame right by the rear wheels when the car is cold. When the car is hot this doesn't happen, and all bolts are tightened.

I was thinking of going to the shop to see if they can weld an extra hanger so it doen't hit anymore. I'm gonna write a letter to greddy and complain about this one.

the sound is from your pipe tapping against the sway bar. You can slightly bend the sway bar away from your piping, but itll eventually go back to its normal place. The best thing to do, is wrap your pipe or the sway bar with some heat resistant padding. The sounds not necessarily a bad thing, its just that a lot of the suspension pieces on our cars are located in crappy places.

Bartkat: that seems to be the silencer which is removeable.

the stock piping is a lot smaller than most aftermarket or custom exhaust piping. Mines a 2 1/4 custom pipe, and I tap occasionally.

ok the best idea would be to get a rear section exhaust to prevent the rattling?

I think it would depend on how the rear section is made. It's gonna be right there where it can bump the suspension and if it's too big or angled wrong it can still hit.

The HKS is a rear section only, isn't it?

I agree with xmeeksx
Try to use some heat / header wrap on the exhaust.
It couldn't hurt it.
