clutch vibration
Hi,
Since it's warmed up quite a bit lately i've been kickin up the rpms a bit..and i've noticed that when I let off the gas and hit the clutch at around 4000 RPM that i get this intense vibration through my clutching foot when I have the pedal to the floor.. the first time it happend it scared the hell out of me and i lifted a bit as i was shifting.. anyways, what kind of vibration is normal when at these RPMS? I'm kinda worried as to what it'll vibrate like at say 6000 rpm..
Also, when i'm driving normally w/ the engine at 3K and I just totally let off the gas, with the car in gear the engine kinda makes a "growling" sound as the rpms get down.. has anyone else noticed this with their civics? Is it normal? While it's doing this it's vibrating quite a bit, but nothing major.
BTW I have a '02 EX.. and now that i read my post over i realize how stupid these questions are..but i'll still post
plus i've never owned a honda, a 4 cyl. vehicle, or a car with a manual transmission, so alot of these things that happen are new to me..
thanks

I get minor vibration in the clutch only when i'm at high speeds on the freeway. I always assumed that it was just normal. But from your description, i'd get that checked out.
I also have a '02 EX, and I've never noticed any "intense" vibrations in my clutch pedal. Minor vibrations yes... but its all relative... maybe my left foot is numb, or maybe you have a problem. If its feels anything like the brake does when ABS kicks in, then you have a problem... otherwise if you think there is something wrong, it doesn't hurt to take it to the dealer and have it checked out...

I never leave my foot on the clutch cause it's bad for it, so, I don't really know of this vibration your speaking of. I push it to redline all the time, and everything seems to be fine. If you shift correctly, your clutch shouldn't recieve any stress at all. The only thing I can think of that would cause it to vibrate is when your foot it on it, it isn't out all the way so, you could be allowing it to slip which would cause it to feel as if it was vibrating. As far as the growling sound that could be because your letting your car lag... ANYWAY, hope this helps...

I feel a slight vibration in my clutch when i go to change gears......
This only happens if sumone is burning my clutch.....(brother drivin my car) but it will be smooth again once i've drove it for about 5 minutes....
So if your not clutchin properly.... do so.... than vibration might decrease

well today I tested it a bit more..and from what I can tell I don't think it's a clutch problem at all.. it sounds to me that it's more like something in the engine, or engine bay that's vibrating bad enough for me to feel it when the engine suddenly has no load on it (ie. when I clutch)
Also I noticed that it didn't vibrate every time I shifted.. once I shifted at 5000 and it was practically the same as when I shift at 3000.
I'll check the heat shield, since i've seen a few posts regarding it being loose and causing a vibration..and the car has to go in for new struts sometime soon so maybe i'll bring it up with them while it's in there..
