Infinity Kappa 63.5i...won't fit 2001 civic sedan?
I took off the panel and realized that first of all, i have to cut the hole larger, correct? But i decided not to because after measuring and carefully looking at the situation, it seems these speakers won't fit. They'll hit the window mounted flush, and with a spacer the door panel won't go back on because of the plastic ring on the panel that the frame of the speaker sits in. Do i have to cut that plastic ring out or what? This seems like a lot of cutting between the metal and the plastic of the door panel to install speakers that may not fit even then. Any thoughts?
Thanks.
Thanks.
he might not have done it, but i have. I have the exact same speakers in my door. If you think its a pain then just take it to a local shop. do what ludlam said. and in the future dont doubt him
It's not a matter of doubting him, but a matter of where his opinion came from. If someone hasn't done the job themselves on the same car with the same speaker, no matter how good they are they could guess wrong. And relying on someone's opinion who hasn't done the exact job would be foolish, not to mention I don't know him from Adam!
As for "in the future don't doubt him"........i won't, as with such hostile *people* as yourself here i won't be back. You need to check your ego at the door pal.

I actually think that Ludlam has had those speaker or similar speakers in his door, so if you need him to clarify for you maybe think about PMing him.
How about another opinion on this.I just finished installing two alpine type r's with a mounting depth between 2.5 and 2.75, I can't remember. The easiest way is to use aviation snips. It can be a little messy but it turned out good.I used the old speakers for spacers by tearing them apart. There a little too big so I'm going to make some out of mdf.It is very tiring job but with patience it is well worth it.

Okay how about pointers from the Mohawk who's done this twice..first time to get the Focal 165k's into the door...second time to get the Rainbow Pros into the doors. Each time I have to cut a little more sheet metal, make new spacers and trim a touch more plastic off the door panel ring.
Cut the hole..it's gonna look a little sloppy no matter how good you are
. made your Baffles/spacers put some Eazy Peel(or other peel away) silicone behind them and screw them into the doors. Let the silicone fully dry, then mount your speakers in, trim the door panel as needed and you have a solid baffle and won't damage your speaker.
If you've ever seen the baskets on the Rainbow Pro's you'd think they were bigass subs made smaller
.
