WHATS HAPPENING TO MY CAR???
ok i just got my car back today from an accident today. i drove the car home with no problems this afternoon. i decided to take my car for a spin around the block just right now and re-aim my headlights. ok, this is the weird part. when i turn on the lights, the lights in the dash are VERY dim, to the point where its like my battery is draining. also, when my headlights are on, my stock radio wont work and the anti-theft light blinks (its only supposed to blink if the car is off). Also, all the gauges in the dash (RPM, speedo, temp, fuel) dont work at all, they just sit at the bottom as if the car were off. when i got out of my car, the headlights were very dim too, like to the point where a flash light is brighter. when i turn off the headlights, all the gauges in the dash work again and the radio turns back on. to top everything off, when i step on my brakes the SRS, ABS and cruise control lights come on. oh yeah, and my radar detector turns on and off by itself randomly when the car is on and its making the seatbelt chime noise on and off randomly too. i tried turning off my car and turning it back on but now it wont start at all and all it does is make a ticking noise like a machine gun when i try to start it, i wont even try to turn over. it sounds like just the starter is working, nothing else. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH MY CAR????? AHHHHHHH!!!!!!

sounds like you fuked it up!
i think your alternator might have been damaged in the accident, so as you drove home...you drained your battery.
you might also have fuked some other things up, check your fuses and such

i agree on taking it back IF the damn car starts. i didnt do anything to the car, i just drove it home, didnt even mess with it. i understand it could be the alternator, but how is the SRS, ABS, and cruise light gonna go on when i step on the brakes and the radio being messed up and such???

I'd also agree with Cambo. I'm still learning about how the civics basically work, but on my old car, if the alternator went (3 times) then things would happen like: My guages wouldn't work, lights would dim, and it would say that the e-brake was up. It happened once to me while I was driving 55mph and my car shut off. It sucked.
ok, if turning on your headlights causes the problem, it sounds as though something is shorting when the lights turn on.
i guess when it shorts, the current draw is so high, it's dropping the voltage of the battery.
when the battery voltage drops too low, things such as the HU will see a low remote signal and assume ur car is off...hence the blinking light...
the low voltage also causes the lights to be very dim
i'd think there's a good chance the alternator is toast, or there is a short somewhere....

i just went through the SAME EXACT thing with my car. no accident, just a system that drained power. first i got a high amp alternator but that did not work. then i got a optima yellow top battery and now everything is fine! i recommend doing the same.
