Bad rubber on original tires

I've been having some problems with my 2001 civic and Honda are saying that the root cause of the problems are the tires.
They are still the original 15 inch Bridgestone tires that came with the car and have done 40,000km, but there's still 50% of good even tread left. Honda say the rubber is has gone hard hence picking up a lot of road vibration.
Should Honda replace these tires under warrenty?

Honda won't replace the tires since they're:
1. Not a Honda part
2. Wear items
3. Shitty to being with

So you may be able to go and bitch to the local Firestone store, or save your breath, do yourself a big favor and just go buy some better tires.

Yep. Tires are a wear item, likes brakes, and wipers. I know Bridgestone/Firestone are the same company, but they might be labeled differently in Bangkok, what is the model number? The ones we have over here are the Firestone FR690's. goto tirerack.com and read all the shitty reviews for these tires.

I know what you mean, I have around 16,000 miles on my civic and my stock firestones are just about bald, only have like 1,000 miles left on them. Good thing my dads getting me wheels for my birthday.

1) No, Honda will not replace them. 2) I wouldn't let them put those same tires on my car. They're worthless and not worth the drive to the dealership. Those are seriously the worst tires I've ever driven on. My Bridgestone Potenzas though.... I love them.

I just replaced my OEM tires with Goodyear Aquatred 3 since my tires were getting pretty bad. I have a 2001 LX with 77k, not bad for OEM tires I guess but I sure love the Goodyear Aquatred 3. And to top it off I got it cheaper locally than at TireRack.

Good Luck,

RC
