[hr]When American Honda made plans to introduce the new Acura line in 1986, King Motorsports was chosen to introduce the new Integra to the racing world. But this time King Motorsports had the help of Mugen Co., Ltd.! Mugen, meaning "Without Limit," is owned by the son of Mr. Soichiro Honda, Hirotoshi Honda. Mugen was founded in 1973 and had become hugely successful in Asia and Japan winning EVERY race series they entered and producing the finest performance products for Honda automobiles.
The IMSA RS Integras won the Championship two years in a row powered by Mugen engines, transmissions and suspension. In 1987, when Mugen decided to enter the US market they chose King Motorsports as the sole authorized North American distributor of Mugen parts. Jim hired Scott Zellner, a successful Honda racer from the east coast, as head of sales and they never looked back. In 1997 Jim retired and Scott assumed the reigns as President and CEO of King Motorsports, now the world’s largest distributor for Mugen Co., Ltd.[hr]

from this you get the idea that Mugen WAS NOT a division of Honda, but another company that works closely with Honda. I remember reading that Mugen WASN'T apart of Honda becuase Mr. Hirotoshi Honda took his father's work, but improved on it creating higher performance parts. Same thing with Spoon, they work closely with Honda. I'll research more info on this to make sure its accurate.
As for the whole mugen not for acura deal..your wrong again. in Asia, Acura IS Honda. Honda integra = Acura integra
Honda Integra (new) = Acura RSX, Acura TSX = Honda Accord R (Euro..but its still a honda). it goes on and on. Mugen does make parts for Acura's, but in Honda names. you jus need to know the Honda name for Acura cars.
EDIT: not to mention that Honda DOES NOT offer mugen parts, unlike all other dealerships with racing divisions
oh yea, suburu - STI

Lets see now....
Renaultsport is Renault
I suppose the 'R' division of Honda would count.
I guess in theory, all those places that build mustangs before they're sold (Saleen, Roush, Steeda, etc....) would count.
As far as factory houses, I can't think of too many more...
But there's all the places that specialize in this car or that one....
Like Ottinger, Lorenser, Brabus, AC Schnitzer, Hamann, Toda, and so on........
