01 LX Coupe -- adding trunk trigger to alarm
01 LX Coupe -- adding trunk trigger to alarm
Hey guys,
I've got an 01 LX coupe and its got a Clifford Arrow3 in it. The Arrow3 supports a hood/trunk trigger and the hood is already setup. I need to figure out how to get the trunk hooked up. Basically, if the trunk light is a negative ground setup (it is) then you can run the lead from the ground side of the circuit to the Arrow3 input. So, anyone know which wire to use? Another option is to use the trunk open light in the dash. Basically, I could run a lead from that light to the trigger as well, using a diode...
I found this on the DIY list...
Trunk Pin Switch RED (-) AT SWITCH OR LIGHT IN TRUNK
But I was hoping to find something under the dash to make this easy
Thanks for any help.

Your trunk pin is a red wire, - trigger in the green factory alarm plug (which is present in all models with or without a factory alarm) in the drivers kick. If the alarm is already hooked up, then there should already be wires tapped into that plug, because that's where your door pins are too.
You can also take a wire and run it to the light inside your trunk so whenever it opens up the light will come on and send a charge back through the wire. If the alarm has negative inputs. then hook it up to the negative wire on the lights. Ill check mine out tonight and let you know later what color the neg. wire is if you want me to
CiViCrAcEr2003,
Thanks for the offer. I think I am going to try bzrollin's idea first, because it is less wiring to deal with (lazy guy here!)...
bzrollin,
Thanks for the info on the green plug. Now, I know where to get looking. I bought the car used, with the alarm already installed, so I didn't get a chance to see a stock Civic under the dash.
I know there is a grey plug near the driver's kick where they tapped into the power lock control. I know, because they did a less than stellar job and if you jiggle those wires, the power locks quit working.
you then have to jiggle them back a bit to get the locks working. It only seems to happen when I go under the dash to work, and its not been an issue of it not working after driving on bumpy roads, so that is good.
I'll get looking, hopefully its easy to find
Thanks again guys!

DONE!!! exactly like you said... red wire is the trigger. What is really annoying is that the installers did not do this in the first place, being that it was right there. I mean it cost me about an hour of time and that included going to Rad Shack to buy the taps, as well as the time to track the wires down (the installer shrink wrapped every bit of the harness for the Alarm, and the green plug was wrapped in tape as well.
Cool! Now I feel better. The car is an LX, but I still didnt like my trunk being open to theft if someone wanted to...
