6.5" Door Speaker HELP......

Hey everyone, I just took off the inside door panel to check out my speaker situation. Im fixing to get 6.5" JL Audio component speakers and I just wanted to see where everything was in my door. Well, in the DIY section, it shows the 6.5" speakers held in by a clip at the bottom and top of the spacer. Well, mine isn't help in that way. Rather, there is some adhesive stuff in between the spacer and the door holding the stock speaker on, but im not sure, there may be clips holding it in also, with this adhesive, but im not sure. So whats up with this? Also, when I get my new speakers and new spacers, how will those connect to the door? I thought that the aftermarket spacer was suposed to be clipped in like the stock spacer does? I would appreciate it if you all could help me clear this up. Thanks!

This is where I get confused though. The spacer goes right inbetween the speaker and the door panel. I am not sure how wide the spacers are, but since many are made from MDF, im guessing 3/4 in think. Do i just drill all the way through the spacer into the metal using sheet metal screws to keep the spacer secure and then secure the speaker onto the spacer with screws?

n/m what I said, I meant to say that it had screws in it already. I just meant to ask if after it is screwed into the frame of the door, you just screw the speaker into the spacer and thats it?

well, you still gotta wire up the speaker but i figure you know that. maybe pre drill some small holes in the spacer if the holes don't match to your speaker (or if you make an mdf spacer). some people use silicone to seal the speaker, i would ask someone else if this is really necessary for a normal setup though.
