My Diamonds .....

Fonto wanted to know what I though of my Diamonds ........ so I posted it for everyone .....

Well I had been looking into redoing my whole system since I got my civic. Basically when I got it I threw everything from my old car in that I could and was cruising around w/ that for quite a while.

I had:
Pioneer DEH-7000 HU
Pioneer 4-way 6x9's
SoundStream SA244 (60x4 / 90x4)
Pair of Soundstream SPL-12's
(all now for sale btw)

Well after researching enough to drive myself nuts ..... I finally bit the bullet one day when I went to a local store and they were slearing everything since they were closing this particular store location. I could get everything for as cheap or cheaper than on ebay even .... thats with Full Warranty and there were 3 other locations remaining open within an hour drive if I had a problem.

Now I have:
Pioneer DEH-7400MP
Diamond M6 6.5" Components
Kicker 150.2
Kicker 400.1
Eclipse Aluminum (they were all out of Titaniums, dammit)
Pioneer 6x9's

Well all I can say is god damn am I happy.

I actually bought the M6's without hearing them. All they had on display were the M3's and I thought they were great. I figured the M6's could only be better.

To get the full warranty the shop had to install them. Man on the way home I wasn't happy ...... they seemed bright and harsh. First thing I did was pop open the crossovers and swap from the 0db setting to the -2db setting for the tweeters (-2 / 0 / +2). Since they are in the pillars this should have probably been done right away at the shop. Then I started tweaking the gains. It took me a few days to get it to where I wanted them. Man are they sweet now. They just plain kick ***. I actually upped the bass on the deck at 63Hz about +3db for only the highs to help them sound the way I wanted them to. This isn't even noticable w/ rap or hiphop ..... but it makes a nice difference with rock type stuff. Like w/ Type O Negative or Yellow (sing that song from the Twix commercial ..... Oh Yeah .....Oh ... Yeahhhhhhhh ....) Those guys have such deep voices. Hard to do well. Overall though the imaging and clarity was exactly what I was looking for.

And the sub is just an animal ...... nuff said.

The clincher was when my girlfreind complimented me on how good they sound. She could understand everything so much better and clearer. Coming from she's the type that thinks a $50 boombox is just as good as my $4,000 home stereo .....

BTW that Yellow CD is very dynamic. The music isn't my style ..... but its a great demo or test cd.

Thanks Joe

You should get a mod to put the Diamond review in the reviews section so that if people in the future are looking for a review of a good speaker it will be up there.

Anyway, do you know how hard of a time they had installing the diamonds...do you know if they had to cut metal, and what size spacer did they use?

Don't know about the subs.

They have 3 lines ... M3, M6, and TDX. Reminds me of Eclipse ..... plains, Aluminums, and Titaniums. (good, sweet, and bad ***)

I listened to the M3s only, a pair of 10's, but it was in the owners winter vehicle, a jeep cherokee. Of all things it was on a Koss HU w/ no preouts feeding a boss amp, bass all the way up, etc .... **** install and it sounded like it. But honestly he just took crap that was traded in and was using that. It was a winter rat vehicle after all and wasn't intended to impress .... just give some tunes while crusin around, plowing, and stuff.

Personally it was down the Diamond M6's, Eclipse Aluminum, and JL W6's. I got such a good deal on the Eclipse I couldn't refuse ..... place was closing down this location.

There is another local dealer that was just starting up this summer that was taking over the local Diamond franchise ....... maybe I'll check them out.

i have the M3 comps right now, but will be trading up to the M6's soon. compared to the M3's, the M6's have great midbass. for the price, the M3's are a great set of speakers, but the lack of midbass is finally getting to me. i heard all of diamonds speakers, and the difference between the M3's and M6's is big, but not much difference in the M6 and HEX, UNLESS you run a good amount of power on the HEX ( like 100-150watts ).
i have all diamond audio stuff in my car ( speakers, amps, sub), and i love it.

btw regularjoe, is your kicker 150.2, 150x2 @ 4ohms or 75x2 @ 4ohms? just wondering how much power your running.

I heard 2 10" M6's at my local shop.
It was powered by a Eclipse amp (not sure which one) and damn it was pretty clean and loud when they bumped it.
The subs were in a small ported box in the back of a CRX.

They also have a chevy truck with 10 10" MacDaddys and that thing made me death.

Ha ha .... not even

Kicker 150.2
- 75x2 @ 2 ohms
- 35x2 @ 4 ohms

So I really just have a 35x2 amp on my M6 components ......

yea, that isn't much, but its still better than deck power. if you stepped up, got atleast 75watts on each side, you should notice a great deal of increase in midbass and even clarity.
