HELP, how do i take this piece out???? (pics)

it's the gold piece on an 01 automatic that you see on the shifter... can i just use force to pull it up??? anyone know???

Its just held in place with tabs molded into teh back plastic part directly underneath it, and it is part of that black plastic piece. Just locate the tabs, and pry apart th etabs far enough for the assembly to pop out of place. No screws that i can remember to remove it, and DO NOT cut the wire that is attached to the black part, jsut turn ccw until teh light comes out and place out of the way in case you ever need to go back to stock.
