stealing a 7th gen civic
stealing a 7th gen civic
i just wanted to know how hard it is to steal a 7th gen civic.....I own one and I know it has that anti immobilize system...does it work? or can someone just easily break in and hot wire the car, i know it's old school but i just want to know
There's a lot of car thieving around where i live and I'm about to get rims. Only security system i have on it is an alarm (air horn getting installed later this month). Is it safe? or should I invest in the thing that holds the brake pedal down....let me know please....thanks

one thing i do have to add is that if you get rims go out and get 4 set of 10,11,12 mm wheel locks whatever size.
might cost you like 100 bucks but its worth saving the rims. most likely they will go after those instead of the car.
take it from me i woke up one day with a truck tire under my car and my rims missing. it sucks and is imbarissing.
they acctually stole my friends exhaust, intake and headers rather then his car.

It even easier to get into an EX or th gen that has power door locks.
If you ever get your keys stuck in th locked car. Here's how to get
them.
Drivers side, take a coat hanger and go down between the glass and window
frame.
Lift up on the unlock both doors lever.
Wallah! the car is open and no alarm goes off.

The car alarm will still go off if u open the unlocked door, if a person wanted to steal ur car they will have to open the car. Since our cars have immobilizers on them, it makes it harder. However i.c.e would be a easy grab especially decks, amps, etc...

1.roll down the drivers window 1/2 way.
2. set alarm/door lock with the honda remote.
3. reach your hand into the car and move the Lonck/unlock
lever up.
4. door opens and unlocks but no alarm goes off.
I spent 1425 points to do this.

we should get 4 of us to do what vesper said (the dif lug nut thing)- then we could all buy them together, and split up the different ones between ourselves. who wants to join!?

well its totally easy to get into a civic. i got an 02 ex and my friend has an 02 lx well we took his key and you can open my door get my car to crank but its not gonna start. Vice Versa also, there are other ways to get into our cars but this is the easiest. Just to let you people know how easy it was to get into our cars.

my car too was broken into, the next day, my alarm arrived, too late huh? anyway, they didnt get much, they took the face plate off my hu, stole a blown sub and amp, so all they really got that had any value was the sub box, a VT box.... anyway, my alarm is wired to all my latches, so if the door opens, or the trunk is released, it goes off, it also disables the inginition, also have shock sensors, had to retune them cause they were too sensitive, it would go off when a bird crapped on it... i have a pager ordered for it, and am going to get a piezo horn to hook up to it to put inside so it makes it intolerable to sit in it when the alarm is going off...
Same thing happened to me...I had ordered my alarm and a week before it was delivered my car was broken into. They took my faceplate, amp & subs. I only got an oem alarm but it works. I tested what kjgracing stated and my alarm still went off...however it wasn't installed my honda.
Real car theives have gadgets and stuff to get around any car alarm out there. So if you have a car they want trust me they'll get it. Any body can break into a car. Every body knows that all you do is stick the magnet side of the subwoofer to the side of the car and waite for the blinkin light to go off, cause it drains the battery. I know this cause my 00' Si just got stolen and the cops say they can get around any alarm on the market easier than you think. But the best security system is the wheel lock, no way around that.

Not where i live... they don't do that old school ways anymore... they have connections with tow company and chop shops. My friend's si got stolen in front of his house...he never found it. and my other friends car, found his stripped off ...both cars had alarms and even the club.
man i got my stock hubcap stolen with donuts. it well hella stupid. if they wanted it so bad they should of just asked me. well it was fine with me. i got my insurance money and got me some rim. so i was happy that they stole my hubcap. dude i went to honda to estimate the hubcap with donuts and they estimated it around 400 for it. it was crazy. for hubcp and donuts. i would pay for it.

you can buy the stuff to deter amature...
but professional ones that goes for cars with high $$$ in it.. ie a decked out ICE, rims, modded out and what not... if they want it they can get it.
if you're going to spend that much money on your car. insure the stuff you buy. and park it in a garage.
it sucks, but this is the reasons why I wont get anything flashy for my car. I park my car outside and occasionally at other places when I sleep over at friends place... unless they want to steal a stock car, there's nothing in it for them.

Clubs are ****. They can be removed from a steering wheel in 11 seconds just by sawwing a portion of the steering handle. Don't waste your money.
I'd prefer air horns over the traditional sounding alarm everyone has and everyone but the owner ignores. But still any car is easy to break in to. A Civic that attracts attention (doesn't matter if it's your 7thgencivic.com sticker or your body kit or your 18 inch rims or your AEM license plate frame) has a higher chance of getting broken in to. If you drive around with your subs blastin, you make your car susceptible to theives - and if I'm not mistaken, this is the most common reason why a theif will target your car. At least where I live. They don't have to like your car - everyone likes the sound of music.
I haven't heard enough stories to be concerned about a 7th gen getting stolen and stripped to the frame. (I'm convinced that if this has happened to anyone in 2001 or 2002, they did it themselves.) I wouldn't see the point to stripping one. What kind of theif wants to steal parts from a car that just about only go on such a slow car? It's easy to see why people would steal 4th, 5th and 6th generation Civics - their parts are interchangable from under the hood AND share the same chassis with the 2nd and 3rd generation Integra and that car is no different. It's easy to see why the 99-00 Civic Si was once at the top of the list. The same reason why the Integra was on it. Some people think it's not even worth getting a used Type R for the fact that what lies under the hood is what the theives want and go after VERY often.
But the 7th Gen Civic stands alone in that sense yet among the new (and rarely seen) Si hatch and the RSX. But it's still prone to getting jacked for what's inside. So in a way, I can see a benefit to having a 7th gen... for now. I say just don't bring extra eyes towards your car if you value your sheeit. If you don't, someone else will. My 2 cents.
It is not as easy as you would think to steal a civic. I do know for a fact that it is impossible to bypass the RS4 Immoblizer system. You could use a DEI 555u to bypass it but you would still need the key specfic for that car. Unless you have an older computer with you to swtich out, the car will not crank. Unless you knew the wiring diagram then you could technically throw power to the fuel pump from the PGM-F1 Relay. That is what the immoblizer does. It prevents power to goto the Fuel Pump if the chip does not match the 13 digit hex number that is programmed into the ECU. Of course I think that if you had a PGM Tester which would mean that you would have to access to one from a dealership, that you could in theroy turn off the RS4 Immoblizer.
