I have a 2001 Civic LX sedan, and last summer I went to my Honda dealer and got an Alpine CHM-S620 6 disc CD Changer installed. It was working perfectly until this week, when it reported a "DISC" error. According to the manual it's a laser focusing error. I tried restarting the car and unplugging the CD Changer and plugging it back in again to no effect. However, I noticed that the problem is that the changer's not pulling the CDs out of the magazine onto the player mechanism. Naturally, without a CD the laser can't focus. Has anyone encountered this problem before? Any suggestions? I'm going to take it to the Honda dealer this weekend to see what they'll do. However, since the Honda dealership is not an authorized Alpine dealer Alpine probably won't repair it under warranty. How much would a problem like this likely cost?
