Too Many KM already...Unplugging the wire running to Odometer?
If i were to unplug the wire that runs to the odometer, would it still count it?
because i have removed my fuse before and i know for a fact it doesn't count the km even when you plug the fuse back in, the only problem with that is that you're gauges don't work either, so now im thinking to only unplug the wire that runs to the odometer.
let me know if it would work?
i don't think i will be doing this, my friend wanted to know but he isn't on the site, so i asked for him and i was curious.

It's possible that the ECU stores the info as well. I've heard that if you hook the right tool up to the ECU it can give a history of everything you have done. I think it's a warranty issue, say you redline your motor every time you shift and blow something, it's called abuse and not a faulty part which would void the warranty. But if you go to sell your car to joe shmoe they will see 20k on the odometer and not know, if you try selling it back to a dealer and it says 20k on the odometer and they read the ECU and you have 120k, you might be leaving in cuffs.
but go for it.
Good luck.

The ECU stores the Odometer milage as well. This is to protect the public from odometer fraud, which is a crime. If you do this you WILL be caught and it will be VERY expensive. Maybe if you switched in the ECU of a wrecked 2k1 with less miles and somehow managed to change what your cars odometer says to the new ECUs milage........than MAYBE. But it wouldnt be worth it.

It's illegal. I wouldn't want this site to be blamed for promoting an illegal activity and consequently getting shut down. Please don't post these kinds of topics; they could lead to 7thgencivic.com being shut down. I don't want that, and I'm pretty sure you don't either. Tell your friend that his curiosity might get this site in trouble, so he better just keep on wondering...
