Adding a simple ignition kill switch?
I did a search.. and wasnt able to find anything about this. All I really want to do is somehow wire in a switch that stops the car from being started unless the switch is turned on. This switch will be hidden somewhere in the car. Has anyone here ever done this? I dont want to install a fuel pump kill switch just yet, perhaps later though.
I know that a pro thief could probably find a way to by-pass it, but I just want to make it difficult for amateurs. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

what if they started it it with your stolen key? all you have to do is take the ignition wire and take a switch to it, then extend the wires and put the switch where you want it.

Uhmmm... They make a key that works in all of Honda's Immobilizer cars. My friend who is a head tech at Honda of Lisle in Lisle, IL has one in his Tool Box at work. They make him check it in every morning and at every night, but for some odd reason the only vehicle this key won't start is 99-00 si's. I have no clue why but he has one at his work. He makes enough money though where he wouldn't even think about stealing a car on the outside of his job.
But they also make products that you can buy on the outside world that can be wired into your car in seconds that bypass's the immobilizer system. It is nowhere close to be steal-proof.
I personally would love to do a(n) personal kill switch like under the driver's seat or in the pocket next to the e-brake in the "hidden" part that you can't se unless your looking into it from the back seat.

Hey everyone, I got a kill switch on my miata and it was very easy to install. I dont know if it can be done on the civic but it wont hurt to try. What I did was went out to radio shack and bought a very small switch that I was going to use as my kill switch. Then I went out and bought some extra wire from any local auto store. As soon as I got all the stuff I needed, I went straight to the clutch pedal ( Oh I forgot to mention this only works with a manual transmission) and looked for two wires. These two wires turn your ignition on when the pedal is pushed in. I then cut one of the wires behind the clutch pedal and then ran a long lead of wire to one part of the switch. After that I took another long piece of extra wire and connected it to the other end of the cut wire and then hooked that to the other prong on the switch. After thats all done just hid the switch and the wires and was set to go. If you have any questions jut let me know.

That sounds reasonably simple enough, thanks. Though it makes me wonder if a smart thief would find that easier to by pass then say using the ignition or starter wire. Be nice to see one that works on automatics to since I want to do this to my wife's car.. thanks again!
Flots, this has nothing to do with the "stock alarm" ...7th gens don't even come with a stock alarm. I was talking about our keys, they have a special chip in them that communicates with the ECU... if the correct key isn't in the ignition, the fuel pump will SHUT OFF. I believe its drivable (hot-wired) only for a few seconds... that i'm not sure about... or maybe the engine wont turn over at all. I think the latter is true

I have a starter kill on my civic, even with the master key you cant start up the car.

Bboysushi, I'm looking for some type of hidden switch to stop a thief from bypassing the Immobilizer. Wired in such a way that they'd have to spend a substantial amount of time trying to find the switch.
EDITED for typos..
First the most basic trick (only good for long storage like at a airport)
Pull your ecu fuse and replace it with a blown one.
Second hood lock - with a stricker that keeps the hood from opening
Hook a bypass switch directly to your starter then hide it in the car.
Or pull all your plug wires then lock the hood.
I think the most suddle tricks work the best.
