strut bar installation mess up

well, just finished intalling my bar about an hour ago and i noticed my steering is a little off. will i have to get my wheels realigned? did the strut bar mess up the alignment?

That's weird. It shouldn't happen. Your steering should feel stiffer and more responsive. Describe "a little off"... Does it pull to one side? Is the steering wheel itself not centered when the car is moving forward?

yes steering feels stiffer but it tends to drift to the right a lil when the wheel is left alone for a sec at about 45 mph. it never did that before.

The strut bar might have just helped you notice it, but it might have been like that before. Sounds like you need an alignment.

Yeah I would second that. I think you need to have the car aligned, the strut bar just made it more aparent to you that it was off by making things more stiffer, so there is less play in the suspension to hide it.

He knows what he is talking about. The power steering on our cars has a lot of play to it. Get a rear strut bar and it should cancel out the drift. I had a front strut bar for a while and $20 for the rear made my car more predictable and I could tell where my car was going to go after hitting a bump or pot hole in the road. Get low profile tires and stiffer springs and you will feel every bump, nick, dimple, and rock on the road. Performance comes at a price and that is comfort.

I wonder if you took it off just for testing purposes, if your steering wheel would go back to center.. hrrmph.
