What are the best kinds of shocks for 2k1civic?

I'm sure that one of the best kinds of shocks for our car is the Tein shocks but they're not exactly cheap...So what other shock is pretty good, next to tein. I have the ground control lowering springs so which shock works well with this set up? I always hear about people getting koni yellows, how much better over stock are they?are they smooth?can you feel the bumps?do they last long?

the only shocks out are the konis and they are inserts not full replacements. The teins aren't shocks but full coilovers with a matched coilover with a shock. Tokicos should be out in the summer (we are all waiting) and no one knows when KYB will be out. SO if you want a shock u have to get a full coilover kit, hr cup kit, or whatever coilover/spring with konis. Konis, tho, you have to modify your stock strut to make them fit.

by they way this should be in the suspension forum!

u should be fine with 4 peeps and goldlines, but coilovers are fine too, just not as smooth unless you get the expensive full coilovers

Why would there be a lock on this? He's asking a tech/product question, not putting up a stupid thread.

I've been wondering about new shocks as well. my 17s with low profiles don't make the ride any less bumpier than stock.

This is completely not true! Ground Control coilovers are the smoothest ride I have ever riden in with the exception of Tien and other full suspension kits. They are not that bouncy at all. You can thank the Eibach springs for that. Don't let false information like the above help you make your decision.

Hey robb, what did you mean that the koni is just an insert did you mean it does not come with the spring or something else, I know it doesnt come with the spring but i thought it was the entire shock/strut if it is not then i will have to save up more money to get the full coilover. you are getting me scared cus im about to get them off torn active and i wanna make sure that i am getting what i see and not something else. if it is something else please let me know.
Thanx

What Rob means, is that the Koni front struts for our cars are inserts, not full replacements like the rear struts are. This means, essentially, that you reuse the stock strut body, but remove the internals of the stock strut and put the Koni in its place. You dont need to buy anything additional to put them on, you just have to cut your stock struts up bit. The rear are full replacements, that just bolt in place of the stock rear struts, all you do is put a spring on it, the upper mount and the bump stop (which you can reuse the stock components for).
