Overall, Civics are really good cars
It´s funny how most of us civic owners complain about the problems the 7th gens have, but now that I got another car I really begin to appreciate how good my civic has been.
Except for the rear suspension bushing problems (extremely soft...) and the tons of rattles inside, I completely trust my car in terms of reliability. Two years without a single engine or transmission problem.
My new car has less than 200 miles and already started with a scary problem and will have to get it towed to the dealer since I´m not willing to drive the one-hour trip from home.
Conclusion: I will fix the rattles and change my shocks, and continue to rely on my good ol´ civic for my everyday commute to the office. My vic would never betray me!

Hondas overall are very dependable, I've owned a lot of diferent Honda powered machines, lawnmower
Outboard 4 stoke engine
and a Honda Generator
plus not to mention 4 Honda cars over the years. Yes, I'm a little disapointed with the rattles and Hondas choice of Firestone Tires
in the Civic, but I'll live with that if I can squeeze 150,000 miles out of this car without any major problems. Honestly though, I dought I'd but another Civic but opt for a Accord or maybe even a Acura, but I'll stick with Honda Co. built vehicles for my everyday car and Ford for my Trucks and Vans.
BTW like the above people asked, what kind of car did you buy that needed to be towed??

I agree completly...This is my third civic and if it wasnt for the rattles...i'm really happy overall.....
They make good products and are really dependable..even if u abuse them...
My only wish was if they still made them in Japan..
but YAH....i cant wait to buy accord coupe...that car is LEGEND

I agree. It is nice owning a car you do not have to worry about. You know as one of life’s problems? Like your job, rent, girlfriend etc.. Unfortunately for most Ford/Chevy owners you might as well add "car" to the never-ending list. Anywho Honda’s are the best. I have owned 2 and so far so good.

I had a 1995 Ford Contour before i bought my civic sedan and boy what a difference!!!! Build quality, reliability, fuel economy, and looks. My only concern with my vic is the A pillars rattle when the car is cold. BUt once the car warms up, i hear nothing.

mine comes from the rear deck, and i had one in the passenger door, but i fixed that. once i put my sub in i'm expecting all sorts of new ones to pop up, though

I only have 9000 miles on mine and I think the alternator sounds like it's dying. I guess no car is perfect, and that's why there is warranty.

I bought a 2001 sedan when the new generation arrived and 45K later, still a solid ride. Driven from Phoenix to NYC and back TWICE in the last year, comfortable and great handling (completely stock). Never had engine/battery/tranny issues. And actually, if it was my daily driver (wife drives the civic), I'd bet the condition would be perfect.
