H&R Springs on OEM struts - will I blow em?

OK, so I bought the H&Rs... now, do I wait to install them till I can afford Konis (or until an alternative comes out), or do I take my chances are use the OEM parts? I live in Ohio, and Columbus and Cleveland both have pothole problems in the spring. So, cast your vote... OEM or wait.

Just put the springs on. If you don't want to blow them imagine you are driving "Miss Daisy." Whatever you do just don't drive like the good ol Duke boy's in Hazard County! It's cool Greg, don't sweat it.

I had H&Rs on my Civic for about a year with the OEM struts and never really had any problems. I used to beat the hell out of thta car too. I wouldn't worry to much.

KEY QUESTION: How many miles do you have on the shocks?

If you are doing the install yourself, install the H&R's now.
If you are spending $$ to install, save up and do it all at once.
Or get the Tokico "blues" they should/could be out in Jan.03, and be MUCH cheaper then Koni.

I'm trying to hold out for Tokico's, and do it all at once.

Oh yeah...dont' forget to add in the rear camber kit expense.

Have them installed. And no, you shouldnt blow them. It depends on how low you go really.

I've got 19K on them right now, with no problems so far. As soon as the Tokicos come out, I definitely plan on getting them.

H&R drops 1.3 all the way around. You definatly will NEVER need a camber kit for the front no matter how low you go. On my Civic with H&R springs I wasn't far enough out of spec on the rear to need a camber kit.

If you have the front cam bolt it makes it a lot freakin easier to adjust the camber, "no man handling required." Trust me it's what I do for a living. If you want a more precise alignment job done, get both the front and rear camber kits no matter what the amount of lowering you have. As for you not being out of specification to not need a camber kit, well your not going to have as much traction as you could have with one, and that's a fact.

Where does everyone get the wrong information on the specifications for the H&R springs. The "Stage 2, sport springs" lower the 7th Gen civic front- 1.75", rear- 1.5" part # 51866. The "Stage 3, race springs lower the 7th Gen civic front- 2.3", rear- 1.75" part # 51866.88. Now spread the word. This is the facts, via the H&R catalog, if you don't believe me call them- 1-888-827-8881.
