?'s regarding blown struts

My 01 with only 10k on it blew a strut today (front drivers side). Ive looked around and this is a real common problem. I have a few questions about what will happen when I go to have it taken care of...

1. Will the dealer replace both sides? You always replace struts in pairs but Im thinking they'll give me crap about it
2. Will they use the 2002 strut rather than the 01'? I know the 02 has a different strut and spring rate.

Thanks

They should use the latest revision of the strut. I don't know if they'll replace in pairs. I think mohawkboom had some blown struts on his, and they replaced all 4 with the 02 revision.

I had the same problem as you - 01 EX front driver side strut leaking at around 9-10000 miles. With that little mileage, it was ok for them to just replace that single strut. Not sure what year strut they put on it, but everything's been fine ever since ... and both sides feel the same (23000 miles on it right now).

Im having the same EXACT problem with my 01 EX. Front drivers side strut started to knock and make noises. I had it looked at when i had my oil changed and the quy showed me the strut was blown. It seems like most people that have had this problem had it fixed under waranty (those that didnt modify suspension) What kind of **** struts are they giving us? I had this happen at 28,000 miles. Thats rediculous? Has anyone that has had theirs fixed had the problem again? I think I might have to go buy some Koni's.

I think a couple members have had their struts replaced 2x. I would think that the flaw has been corrected but that is just an assumption. I would get them replaced under warranty and look into aftermarket after it expires if needed.
