Koni Yellow problems
I've got the koni yellows in the front and rear of my car using the Eibach Sportline springs. The problem is that the rear spring perch keeps warping and then streching over the safety clip which makes my car literally fall to the ground. Now, it does look cool with the 17's tucked up in the wheel well but it renders the car driveless since there is now just a shock and no spring. This has happened 4 times before: twice on each side. I fixed it each time by hammering the perch back into shape and then Koni finally sent me a brand new pair. The new ones lasted for a little over one month until failing last night. Anyone else have this problem or heard of it? I'm slightly upset....
Damn that realy sucks i just installed my konis w/Pro Kit 2 weeks ago and this hasnt happened to me. I hope it wont because i would be pissed off are you putting a lot of weight or wear on your car? do the perches sit on the shocks loosely maybe you got the wrong shock for the Application. what are you going to do
Wow, that is VERY strange.
I've had Neuspeed sports mounted on Koni's front and rear for multiple months without any major problems (at least in the rear).
One thing to check is that your spring perch (provided by Koni) is installed properly. The installation is pretty obvious as one direction will fit better than the other but I believe it is possible to have it upside down. Basically you want the spring perch drooping over (covering) the ring clip that is on the Koni shock. Reason being is that when installed correctly, there is actually a detent in the upper edge of the perch that slides over the ring, thus keeping it in place. This detent would prohibit the ring from slipping out of its place as it is keeping the entire circumference of that ring pressed tightly into the groove in which it sits.
Hope this makes sense.

The only 'excessive' weight that I have is the stereo system in the rear. That shouldn't be the problem though. I had the dampining adjusted to the full limit since the beginning but this time, after reshaping the safety ring and perch, I put the dampness to the least amount or not as firm. Maybe that will help but then what the heck is the point to having adjustable shocks.
You're either doing something seriuosly wrong, or you have to much weight in the back. I autocross my car, and have about 80 lbs of stereo in the back, (not at the same time ofcourse).
And I have had eibach prokit springs with koni yellows for over 6 months, and they still drive like new with no problems at all...

it cant be that its cause its too heavy.. it has to be a defective one but then both pairs?
reason why i dont think its cause its heavy, the tires would tuck even before the bottom perch bent... and this would mean even having 3 people in the back would cause it to bend cause dude, i doubt his system weighs more then 400lbs.

See **** like that scares me ... cause that was the exact combo I was thinking of installing on my car ... I hope you find out what the problem was and when you do post it up ...

For the first couple of months they worked flawlessly. It hasn't been until the recent past three months. The problem that's occuring is the spring perch begins to 'warp' slightly around the clip over time. Sooner or later it warps so much that it actually begins to slid over the clip and then it falls down. My first set was with the Koni yellows and Neuspeed Race springs. The rears fell so I decided to get the Eibach Sportline with the new pair of Koni's that they sent me hoping that a different spring rate would help. Then the right, rear fell down. I checked the left, rear and the perch is still shaped correctly and there is no evidence of a problem. The clip still is snug in the groove of the perch with no gaps. It's just the right side now. After reshaping the clip and perch I reduced the dampning by adjusting it all the way down (softest setting). The perch seems fine now 4 days later but that doesn't mean over time nothing will happen again. By the way, I can pull and reinstall my shocks and springs in a little over an hour for both sides now! All that practice
