Coilovers or Springs
I'm deciding on whether to get springs or coilovers. I can get em both for the same price but i dont know how much i wanna lower my car cuz it might scrape on my driveway. Which is better coilovers or springs? and how much do u think i should drop my car with 17in. rims?

If they're the same price, i'll just assuming they're cheapy coilovers and decent springs. If they are Eibach, go with the springs. In regard to coilovers, you gotta ask yourself, "Am I ever going to adjust them?"

It's a tough question. For example, I see myself getting GC coils next year because I'm already finding the disadvantage of driving a lowered car in Canadian winter (yeah, we got hit with a storm already), and it will be GC coz they have Eibach springs.
BUT, I believe coils will bounce a lot more with stock shocks (I got Koni's) so springs might be the solution if you're at a less snowy locale.
And as 01civicboi says, if they're the same price it's probably cheap coils, you might want to go with the springs, coz springs the price of coilovers are likely good springs.
If you're concerned about ride height but still want to lower your car, go with the Eibach Prokit or Sportline for the least drop out of the aftermarket springs lineup.

msoft, keep in mind you have to take good care of them cause they could corrode/rust due to the salt used on the roads, if this happens you wont even be able to adjust them anymore
I would go with the springs.....like civicboi said, i'd rather have decent springs that cheapy coilovers....many ppl don't know what lowering your car can do, so use the best quality products you can get, it makes a difference. I read about it, but i have yet to lower mine, because of my driving style that i like, and money....
Yea... After putting in my skunk 2's, I never really adjusted them at all until recently when I put in my Koni Yellow shocks-then again, I have a body kit so I am glad I had the coilovers... As for coroding, my skunk's still look brand new after I wipe them off once in a while and regrease the housings. Just take care of your shtuff. ~1~

one thing people often overlook with coilovers is that ya they're adjustable but every time you adjust them you change the suspension alignment slightly from whatever it was setup at the alignment shop at the last positions so you'll have to go get it re-aligned or you could quickly wear out your tires or wear them akwardly...even a slight change has consequences.
at an average price of $50 an alignment for lowered cars....normally $25 for stockers....it adds up if you want your car to track right on the highway and not squirm....

p.s. anyone know how much a thrust alignment costs since I'm converting to rear discs on my 98 over thanksgiving and this needs to be done...sigh more money flies away.....

when you adjust coilovers, your only adjusting the camber... that why you get an alignment at what your probably going to be driving at most of the time.. an 1 inch +/- that should be fine and shouldnt be a BIG problem. if you adjust it 2" then it might be, but ya just try to keep it at the same height you got your car aligned at.
