where does most road noise come from?

I was wondering where the most road noise makes its way into the cabin. Would dynamatting the floor panels and trunk help at all? I already did the front doors and didn't notice any difference except for better sound from the stereo. I want to make it quiet so I can talk to people when driving on the freeway.

Thanks

Dynamate everything. They even make a dynamat to go under the hood and stop engine noise. Doing the trunk would only really help if you havea loud exhaust bothering you. I would say most of the vibrations and road noise comes from the floor.

Yeah, and there's excessive wind noise too from the door frames etc, especially on the freeway. So maybe look into something that minimizes windnoise from entering the cabin as well.

a lot of noise comes from your tires,.. you can try putting it around your wheel wells. on the floor panels near the tires etc.. that will probably help a little but the best solution is to get quieter tires..

I think it's mostly from the vibrations coming through the suspension into the cabin. Softer suspension will help. Then more of those thick insulating panels on the metal. Although I guess stuff like dynamat would work. I hear people get rid of most of it by doing the floors and wheel wells. I sprayed my front wheel wells with rubberized undercoating. I noticed a small improvement, but I didn't spray the whole wheel well. I need to spray some more up front. Then in back too. I'll do that after winter though. I'll also do the underbody. Lots of bare sheet metal there. I noticed that the RSX has more undercoating than we do, so I think it's worth doing...

Road noise is caused by uneven tires. There may be a high spot on the tires and this causes a wobbling effect that may cause noise, but is not felt in the ride. If you have a shop that can help you, take it to them and have them lift your car and spin the tires while lifted. You can also feel the tread to feel for seperation.

Dude, what are you talking about? Every car in the history of the world has road noise. It's gonna happen on every car. When you are traveling that fast, the window ripping around the car is gonna cause noise. Also, the friction where the rubber meets the road is gonna make noise, no matter how even your tires are.

tires cause the most noise imo. getting better 14" tires reduced noise a lot in my car.

the compound of the tires and its dread pattern make the noise, softer tire/pattern design make different pitches of noise,a good online tire store will help u which to pick if u want quiet tires and again, they r usually soft compound and mainly for ordinary driving.
