Crashed my 02 civic....poor baby!
to make a long story short, i was driving in the snow on a main street, and a guy in a new bmw 325i swurved, and spun out of control in the snow and ended up on my side of the road side ways and i turned to get around him, so i wouldnt hit him with the front of my car, and i pulled the e-brake to get around him so i swerved around him, but the back right side of my car, so the rear quarter panel got smashed, and my wheel is like bent too...! terrible, its fu**ed up big time....now the weirdest thing of all is that my gas meter was reading that i had a full tank, but i really had less then a half a tank of gas left...so why would it read full? someone told me that it could because my gas tank moved, even thought the gas tank is on the left side sort of, it could have shifted from the hit, and that would also mean that i would have frame damage....so what does this mean? will they write it off? or fix a bad frame damage...any comments? pleasse
thanks

in short, if it seems like it's any sort of extensive damage at all (i.e. axle, major mechanical or body, or definitely frame) it'll get totalled out...insurance companies seem to total a car almost instantly after a crash (at least in my experiences)...
that really sux though, I hope you weren't injured! even if you weren't, you should complain about a sore neck, might as well!

my g/f hit a parked car in her 2k2 LX going about 35 mph...crunched the front right fender, hood, bent the axle...they totalled it out without even thinking about it...a lady in a 99 civic turned in front of my mom, and smashed the passenger door and back quarter panel, bent the axle...they totalled both that car and the truck my mom was driving...my bosses daughter has a van turn in front of her 01 elantra and she smashed in the front right bumper/fender, but smashed the tire up into the firewall (supposedly) and they totalled it out...

After having my 2k1 coupe hit 4 times in parking lots in only 15 months after getting it (total estimated damage around $1200 CAN) on Friday when switching into a lane from the merge lane on a major highway a Ford F350 was switching lanes at the same time, so neither of us saw each other and the big F350 going about 120km/h hit the drivers side wheel, fender, and door of my Honda going only about 70-80 km/h, and my driver's side mirror was instantly shattered into pieces flying across the hood... at first I thought my front fender was gone, but just dented in.
$1500 damage, including no mirror. Downside is that the other guy says he was already in the lane, and I don't have accident forgiveness, which means I have to pay for his too or get screwed... $1500 worth of fibreglass (the flare over the wheel on an F350 is huge), labour, and paint, plus my $1500. So just going to get the mirror replaced ($300) and wait till spring for the rest (for my car anyway, still have to pay now for his).
So right now theres about $2000 damage on my poor car (got one dent fixed in the summer, $500), but lucky because no damage to the wheels, tires, alignment, or frame, its all just been sheet metal, but still damn expensive. Especially since I have $7500 worth of tuition per year, and still have 2 years left after this one.

- In a Sav-On parking lot, I'm coming out and I see my car rocking and the car alarm going off... getting ready to leave the aisle with a quickness is a brand new silver MUSTANG... so I run in front of the car with my friend... turns out this guy was trying to be cool pulling out of his space fast and SIDESWIPED the back of my car on his way out... and he was preparing to run away afterwards... @$$hole.... I HATE crappy drivers

Sounds like the tank got shifted. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the fuel level float is in the tank, and if the tank got shifted it could of tweeked the sending unit assembly and now the float doesnt read correctly. If its determined that your uni-body is unrepairable, they'll most likely total it.
