I have Catz Plazma bulbs. They look the closest to HID to me. Never had a run in with the law with them. My fog lights are a different story now...

Toretto- what kind of body kit is that???

I've got a set of the MTEC bulbs from mtecpower on eBay. They're sweet and are really bright. Instead of being blue, they're more white. They're only 4350K though, so they're not going to be as bright, as say, the PIAA Super Plasma GTs. The PIAAs are *way* too expensive. I even took a look at the new SparkBlues that they came out with and they want $130 for a pair! I bought these for $30 off of eBay and they're great and will stick behind them. There's a few other people here that have them too and love them.

The question was... legal. Right?

Here it is. Either Sylvania SilverStars or Philips VisionPlus. Both of these bulbs are the same as the super bright Euro versions except they have a very slight tint which gives it a 4000K color. This slight tint allows for legal use in North America.

I know some will contest, but I have researched this. PIAA and other bulbs that have a very dark tint reduce light levels. Yes some do use use similar tech as Sylvania and Philips and some are just tinted. And the other bulbs which are high wattage are illegal in North America.

Plus Sylvania and Philips bulbs are designed for long life similar to OEM bulbs. They have the ticket saving DOT approval on the bulb. And they were designed by the leading lighting companies in the world.

H4 bulbs is the same as 9003. Here's the specs for SilverStars.

Lumens Watts Color Temp
SYL9003ST 1000/1400 Max. 60/70 4000° K
SYL9004ST 700/1200 Max. 50/70 4000° K
SYL9005ST 1700 Max. 70 4000° K
SYL9006ST 1000 Max. 60 4000° K
SYL9007ST 1000/1350 Max. 60/70 4000° K
