HX CVT rumbling at low RPMs
I have a little problem with my CVT making rumbling noises at low RPMs (around 1500 RPM). The rumbling almost always occurs when I accelerate from a stop. At first I thought it was no big deal but then I read about other 2001+ HX CVT reporting the same problem. I have a group for HX owners on Yahoo so that is how I found out that others were having the same problem. The people who brought their HXs in reported having their CVT flushed several times. This apparently resolved the problem, though in a couple cases the rumbling problem came back. Owners of older HX CVTs did not report this problem. I believe the CVT was redesigned in the 2001+ Civics.
I thought I'd post the problem here in case there are any HX CVT owners in this forum who are unaware that others are having this problem. I believe Honda is aware of the problem but as of yet there are no TSBs or recalls. Does anyone know how I can report this to the NHTSA? I would like to get a TSB out on this problem. Thanks!

I HAVE A SIMILAR PROBLEM TOO!!!!!!!!
finally someone who knows what im going through. my HX vibrates and rumbles from a dead stop. i brought it to 2 different dealers but they both wont fix it and pretty much voided the warranty because of an accident my dad was in. at first they said that my axle is bent and is pushed up into my tranny (i have yet to look). then they said that it could be a loose ball joint or axle or something that could be causing the "chattering." i paid them $92 to do the inspection just to tell me that $hit. someone please help us. i've been living with this problem through every stop sign, stop light, etc for the past couple months!!! im not aware if they flushed tha tranny or whatnot but anybody with info on how to notify them of this major prob please HELP!!!

Go to the HX group on Yahoo: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/hondacivichxcvt
This problem has been discussed quite a bit on that site. Be sure to contact NHTSA. The more of us that do that, the more pressure it puts on Honda to get the dealers to fix this problem.
