This is the civic I was talking about with Lambo doors
Here is the civic with lambo doors....
This trick is just a hinge higher then the mirror on the door contour!

Like this the door open this look great....but when the door is closed....there is a gap between the fender and the door....I don't like this...=( When you do a mod...it have to be tight...all well done or if not...don't do it!
That's my opinion!!!

That looks more like a McLaren F1 style door hinge. Where the doors open forward and out.... Like this.

Still quite cool.
Lambo doors just open up and forward...they stay parallel to their down position.

yea.. its only 5 thousand to do too.. FOR EACH DOOR. Plus it adds about 80 lbs a piece. yea, thats a good use of funding.

uh, its not that expensive. someone here said he can get a shop to do it for $500 per door. and i know decah is going to make their kit soon, it retails for 1600 for both. and keep in mind its retail, not how much you can get them for. as for 100lbs each.. i doubt its that much, its probably just a new set of hinges and maybe gas shocks.

nope. you need to reinforce the door frame which adds a buttload of weight. however if you are talking about 500 dollars, they arnt even doing that. can we say side impact safty? and where did you get 100lbs from?

it depends where its hinged at. thats the first kit i've seen thats hinged there. the other ones i've seen were right below the mirror, where our stock ones are at. i know its not 5000 cause i remember asking this one guy with a mustang, he got his done for 3000 and his opened/closed with a push of a button.
and i got 100lbs from before your edit

OK, I just recently saw this post and from what alot of people are saying about doing lambo doors for $400- 500 is not worth doing it for that cheap and I dont know of a shop that can do it that cheap with all the labor and modifing that has to be done to the door. I have been waiting a month and 3 weeks on my miata to finish with its lambo doors. This is a custom install and the doors have to be modified so that they do not hit the fenders or the a-pillar, also they must pop out a little more than usal doors. As for the pricing goes, it varys with different shops. The shop I took my car to is Ultimate Auto Boutique they have a very reputable shop and have been around for awhile. They did the yellow wide body civic with the split hood. As for their pricing on doing lambo doors is about $5000 with gas shocks and add an extra $1500 to do electric doors. If you are going to pay the $400-500 to get your doors done, becareful with what you buy, Some kits reqire you to make a long square cut into the fender just so the hinges wont hit the fender and believe me this looks really bad and make its hard to sell your car. If you have anymore questions on Lambo doors or about the shop I mentioned, email me at ScrubinOn17s@aol.com

i think it depends on the car too. i'm thinking its easier on an eclipse cause i've seen plenty of them with lambo door. and also the kit, since it is a custom job, i've seen many different kinds.. some that pop out and then up. some that open up halfway. there are many ways of doing it and i'm sure not all $500 jobs require you to cut your fender.

Aetobatus I thing that's the problem with those doors....!
I've always thought that we do some mods to improve our car...not to make them unusable....When you do a mod you have to do it perfectly ( in my mind ... ) and it have to improve your comfort or do something to make the car better not to make the car unusable....that's my opinion!!!
