DC Sports rear lower tie bar same on Civic & RSX ????

I would think this has to have been looked at before but I did a search and did not find an answer to this specific question. So...

According to DC Sports' website, their part# for the rear lower tie bar is the same for the Civic & RSX.

So logic would have it that any lower bar would interchange between the 2 cars. I realize that by design the other bars would not fit, but the lower rear suspensions are so similar.

And if we follow that logic then why would the Neuspeed lower bar for the RSX not fit on the Civic? Is there a difference in design bewteen the DC Sports and the Neuspeed bars?

Thanks for your help 'cause I'm

The RSX already comes with a tie bar and the DC sports fits around that bar(in front of). The rear suspension is a little different(have not seen the under body of an RSX) and I know that the coilover kits for the RSX will not fit on a civic b/c of the rear suspension. I heard the fronts fits, but that is all. The RSX coilover kits lower that car more too.

Have you asked shops if they will fit. I'm sure they will tell you so they can sell you one. OR just wait until someone who is willing to call for you signs on an sees this thread.

The crossmember is the EXACT same size, take a look. I figured this out simply because if it was a different size then I would not have been able to take the rear anti sway bar from a DC5R.

This is the picture of a DC5(R?) RSX. The crossmember HAS to be the same size for the rear anti sway bar to fit, thus meaning we should be able to take aftermarket tie bars that fit over the crossmember that are intended for RSXs.

Thanks guys! And great pic!

Perhaps something that should be taken into account for is that Neuspeed is designing their rear lower bar for a Civic with a stock sway bar, not the 19mm RSX sway bar. Since the RSX bar bends out in the middle and the Civic bends up, maybe this is the difference. If that were the case, then anyone who has the RSX sway bar would need the RSX tie bar. Or perhaps that has nothing to do with this.

It's too bad the factory RSX tie bar won't fit. Our cars no not have that little "box" that the tie bar mounts to. And since it does not show up on the tie bar parts sheet at Majestic Acura I assume it cannot be added.

If I don't see any other posts about this I'll write to Nuespeed and see why it won't fit, of if it will fit? I plan on putting Neuspeed bars all around...front U/L & rear U/L.

Hey VNlilMAN. You must have the answer to this???

Well I wrote to Neuspeed and was very disappointed in their response. They only said what is already known. They have the front upper. No mention of any others even though I asked. Hmmmmm. And I never even asked about sway bars. We hope to have the sway bars released some time at the beginning of the
year. Please check back with us from time to time for more information on
these upgrades. As for tie bars, we currently have the front upper tie bar
now in stock for $139.95. For product information, ordering procedures, or
a dealer near you, please feel free to give our sales staff a call at

They should fit. I know the DC Sports are adjustable and the neuspeed are not length adjustable. They might be a little different. If I were you, wait until you upgrade your swaybar. Then you can decide on what to get. All the companies are making rear 22mm for our cars. The real question is, would Si parts fit our car. All the Type-R parts will fit a SI. I know Mugen makes a rear 25 mm swaybar for the R. You will not a lower tie bar until you upgrade or get a thicker sway bar. From the factory, they strengthen it in the Type-R. They do it for a reason.

I have got a LOT to learn. I've become more interested in suspension and I've learned a lot from your help around this section. There's not too much to know about rear anti sway bars except:

1. Don't change the front anti sway bar on a front wheel drive car.
2. A bar over 20mm is going to require a rear lower tie bar. (Although I've been without one for WEEKS thanks to ProCarParts)
3. Best way to decrease body roll is in the rear anti sway bar.
4. A must for autocrossing
5. Handling increases at ANY speed.

I've also seen some 27mm rear anti sway bars for the Integra Type R. I wouldn't think of putting that one on (yet!) My 22mm one is lighter than any aftermarket one and if I had to sell my car, the bar stays with me.

And what's an upper tie bar do anyway?

Thanks guys. I've already got the RSX 19mm sway bar, just need the front & rear lower tie bars and front & rear upper strut bars. I like the Neuspeed no nonsense design but not sure I want to risk buying the RSX part#, so...

I've been looking at the Skunk2 rear lower and will probably get that one. And the Neuspeed front upper too, but the rear upper is like $200.00. Ouch. I have ruled out DC Sports for anything as I do not care for their designs.

So now I just need to figure out which front lower. Damn this is getting expensive.
