Just letting everyone know...my turbo project is starting soon

I just got done talking with my dad and it looks like ill be starting soon. SKR Performance here in NJ will be taking care of the whole process, which will be about a month long. It's going to involve first converting my fuel system to a return style, using parts such as AEM fuel rail from a 2000 civic, fuel filter, BBK fuel pump, and stainless fuel lines. I'm trying to keep a little show involved in it. So after that it's a matter of building the turbo. They're using a T3 Garret ball bearing turbo, SKR intercooler, Vortech FMU, Tial wastegate, and a Turbo XS Type-H blow off valve. The whole process is going to take around a month, depending on what problems they encounter, such as having my computer accept boost without making my engine go nuts. So that's the process in a nutshell. I'm going to be taking the car in about 2 weeks so they can start. It'll take until the middle od December I think but it's going to be well worth the wait. Just figured I'd let everyone know and I'll be sure to keep all of you updated on everything (it'll give us autmoatic guys some hope...).

Use a missing link valve to keep your computer from seeing boost, unless you're reprogramming the computer to know what to do under boost.

You're spending all that money to turbo an automatic civic?? Sorry but that sounds like an even bigger waste than spending it on a manual right now...

it makes sense to put a turbo in an automatic if you own an automatic. I myself am not after performance, but after having a discussion with some of my car buds at work, I figure a turbo would be excellent for show as well

I would do it to my automatic too, that's if I had a beater car and the money for it, hopefully with my new job I will be able to afford a lot more mods before spring.

- Actually, mechanically speaking, I've heard it makes more sense to put a turbo on an automatic because the shifts and RPMs remain more stable, or something like that. Same with nitrous.

ill let SKR know about that riceburner. the guys actually friends with kenny tran of jotech so im sure he might be in touch with him about that.

and for transmissions they both have their ups and downs as far as turbo performance goes. its just that fast and the furious glorifed the 5 speed. if the movie was totally accurate there would be a few auto turbos in the bunch...then again there wouldn't be an eclipse that shifts 7 times...

Why is it a waste? Autos are BETTER for Force induction applications. You can be in full throttle the whole time, hence you don't lose boost while shifting gears.

yeah SKR knows what theyre doing. that supra is insane, runs 11.3 and fully show. and the is300 is awesome too, hes got 321hp at the wheels and its beautiful. so im really trusting their work. defiently go there once mines done. come to the meet in lebanon and maybe ill give some rides in it!

and for the first update since its not really significat...first payment was made today and all the fuel parts are ordered. the work will start on monday the 18th. ill be a while without my car but i know itll be well worth it. one of the cool parts i figured out today...when racing i can jack up my rear bags all the way so alll the pressure is pushing on the front wheels, im curious to see how the traction is with that...

and i just found out today ill be getting the car dynoed so ill also have numbers for everyone. i doubt itll be as high as riceburner because he has a 5 speed, but it could be close.
