Does the 2003 guage cluster work with 2k1/2k2's?

Im thinking about getting one cuz I accidently messed mine up(long story). Anyways, does the 2003 gauge cluster use the same plugins as the 2k1/2k2's? Does anyone know?

All I can tell you is that I have a 2001 LX Coupe auto and a 2003 will not work. Same plugs different calibration. Best bet is to call your dealer if they are not a$$e$ otherwise IM me and I will get a hold of a friend at the dealer I go to.

related question:

Where is the mileage and trip odometer miles 'stored'. Is it in the ECU? So if we say... put a coupe gauge cluster in my sedan, the miles will still read correctly?

- I don't know from personal experience, but word on the street is that no, the mileage is stored IN the gauge cluster. When you swap clusters, it resets your mileage to 0 (with a new cluster) or whatever the previous owner had (a used cluster) Don't be dishonest...

Hmm, I would've guessed that the mileage is stored in the ECU. I dunno why they would split up computer functions like that. The ECU needs that when it trips the maintenence required light. I'm not 100% sure either , but that would be the most logical way...

About the gauge cluster - call Honda or look up the parts on that Honda website with all the diagrams (link please? I forget...) Again, my feeling is why would they change up the plugs? More costly and I don't think there is more function to the gauge pod. I think you could probably do this. It isn't a different shape overall is it?

ghetto is right, the mileage is stored in the cluster. my car had it's gauge cluster replaced, and now i have this sticker in my door jam that says it was swapped at 11,880 miles and you need to add that to the odometer read to get an actual milage count. but if i remove the sticker, nobody knows any better because as far as i know, they don't put a VIN tag on the gauge cluster.

anyways, i would like to get some 03 gauges, i'll ask when i call them tomorrow and i'll let you know what they say.

*READ ME*

This thread is one year old.
Just to clear up any confusion, gauge cluster swaps have been done for 2001 and 2002 models. I myself have swapped a 2002 EX cluster replacing the 2001 DX cluster in my car.
Mileage is stored both in the cluster and in the car's ECU. Therefore, if you swap a different cluster into your car, that cluster will show its own mileage and NOT your own car's mileage. This does not mean the mileage in your car's ECU will change to the mileage of the cluster you swapped in, the ECU will still count from original the miles that are on your car.

I strongly believe that 2003&up gauge clusters are NOT interchangeable with 2001 and 2002 gauge clusters. I haven't read of anyone trying it so far, and someone has yet to prove this.

all i know is honda doesnt usually make clusters easily swapable....i say easily because it can be done with rewiring ive seen a 2000 ITR cluster in a 90 hatchback and all he did was rewire the harness and plug in the itr cluster...u have to be very good with wiring and know what goes where on both car if u try this and know what ur doin itll work u could even get a type s or type r cluster if u know what ur doin but good luck if i had the cluster and i had a 01 or 02 id try it its not rocket science but ull need the manual for both years

The cluster will only work if you re-wire the plugs. I have the original honda service manual in front of me. The 2 clusters all use the same wires, but in different pins. They cannot simply plug in. But with the manual, it's real easy to swap the wires around to make it work.

it has been done. its not hard to do...if you find smashed 03, take the cluster and plugs. then you need to get the helms electrical manual for both 2001-02 and 2003 and match the pinouts. i posted a FAQ in tech if you search for it, the milage for the car is stored in the ECM and the cluster. the cluster miles CAN be modified by any speedo shop. search and learn.

I have put an 01 ex cluster in 04 vp.Plug it in and go. the only prob is the abs light stays on because the vp doesnt have abs. I have since put in a 03 ex cluster and I had to re-pin the connectors. no big deal

Is there an easier way to do this conversion rather than pulling all the wires out. Relocating it b/c it a b**** to take the wires and puting them back on.

The clusters from a 03+ will work on a 01-02. There's a DIY on this site on how to rewire the pins. I've personally done the conversion on 2 Civic's (Big's and APRboy's).
