Not much of a DIY, but you did it yourself,

How did you do it? Did you buff it with a high-speed? Cause I am pretty sure it would give it a better look, also there's some kind of a sealant to hold the finish too.

I first took a high speed sander with 600 grit sand paper wheel on it and went over it all....then i used wet/dry sand paper at 1000/1500/2000 grit...then after i was done with that i used a buffing wheel...then used never dull.

Those are pictures of it about 1/2 way done, it is very shiney and smooth now....i did take the valve cover off even though it can be done by hand w/out taking it off if you like.

This was done on my 6th gen, the link for the DIY pages are down..but you can do this to a 7th gen too of course.

I did that to my 5th gen but I used a black DX cover....I had an Ex....but I didnt want to ruin it....I had my friend Sand blast all the black off the cover, and then I sanded with 220 grit 320 grit 420 grit and 600 wet. After that I polished it with my dremel and some mothers aluminum polish....It looked awesome...and so does yours.
