Strut bars tie the 2 sides together. There are upper front, and upper rear. They link the strut towers together. Tie bars link the sides of the lower suspension together. The sway bars are more like heavy duty springs that are attached to the lower suspension (front and back (EX and 02+ LX) They keep the car stable laterally. It will flatten out the rear of the car when you turn by preventing the arms of the lower suspension from traveling to far relative to each other.
For sway bars, if your car already has one, then you can swap it for the RSX-S bar or the Progress Group Anti Sway bar kit.
Strut bars... there are tons, everything from ebay cheapies to the Neuspeed bar, which is all welded with jointless construction. It's not the most expensive, but seems to be the best.

go to the parts section and type in rsx sway bar. that fits our cars. the difference is i believe is your talking about an upper strut bar that goes into your engine on the towers and strengthens the suspension up front. i think im right. not really a techie about this stuff. as for the sway bar you put that in the back of the car near the muffler. in that general area. that will prevent understeer i think. help me out guys.

ok, the people who replied earlier were right, but i dont think they explained it enough.
a sway bar, is a piece of spring steel, the same stuff springs are made of. it runs from one lower control arm to the other and prevents excessive body roll when cornering, thicker ones are stiffer, thats why people replace them.
strut bars tie the two strut towers together and reduce body FLEX, that is the uni-body actually twists(although not very much, but its enough to hinder performance). an upper front does the most, followed by the rear two. from what i have been seeing, Neuspeed has a front lower tie bar in the works. that will go from lower control arm to lower control arm, similar to the sway bar, but it prevents the struts from moving.
baisicly sway bars(aka: anti-roll bars) prevent reduce body roll, and strut/tie bars, reduce flex.
am i making sense man, hope i could help ya.

sorry, i didnt know, but yeah, thats ideal. what do you want from your suspension? if i know this i can probably help you more, and im sure others will be able to also.
btw, if you dont feel like spending the money for all four, you can just get the upper front, that does the most for your car.

What do I think of just springs and anti sway bar? I think that my car's suspension is spectacular. The only thing that would make it more comfortably stiffer are stiffer shocks/struts but regardless the car still handles like a dream. Instead of a 19mm anti sway bar, I have the thicker 22mm rear anti sway bar. I can make the sharpest turns at ususual speeds without having to sway side to side. I highly recommend a 22mm bar if you're willing to deal with the additional stiffness in the rear wheels.
And our knowledgable suspension moderator is right. With a larger rear anti sway bar without the drop, you promote oversteer which can be ugly.
The best way to bring your ride to it's center off gravity is to modify the suspension in this order:
1. Wider tires and/or lower profile tires (wider and with a less profile than stock which is 185-65... if you plan to be on 15s, I suggest a 195-60 or 195-55 tire.)
2. Lowering Springs/coilovers/airbags
3. Aftermarket struts (if not included with coilover setup)
4. Anti sway bars and strut bars and tie bars

I recommend you don't drop more than 1.75" because you (partially) have the oem kit

ak, she said taking at turn at 60 mph not going straight...
heres my order
1) drop(oh and airbags arent always good, some setups suck. such as a front/back setup compared to f/b/s/s
2) Low pro/wider tires
3) shocks
4) sway bar(eh, too lazy to put anti all the time, you know what i mean anyways)
5) tie bar
6) front strut bar
since your broke i would just get springs $210 installed
RSX sway bar, around $50... someone here said you dont really need a tie bar for 19mm but might need one for 22mm.. not too sure about sway bars...
tie bar- since you wanted dc, those got for around 100.

well i guess a rsx-s sway bar would be perfect then. cause its 19mm right? i think the rsx-r is 22mm. would there even be a big difference between a 19mm and 22mm?

The 19mm one I discovered can be found as cheap as $50-$80. What I wonder is if people with the Type S are selling theirs for a 22mm (or thicker) one to make the 19mm one so cheap? The price for the 22mm one just went up to $175! No idea if Progress' 22mm one with tie bar is still around $140.
And I guess if there was no difference, you'd find a 19mm bar on the Type R but every part on that car pretty much makes it what it is.

That thing doesn't bend for sheit.

well there probably is a difference but is it a realy big difference? and is the difference $100 worth? to me it isnt... i'll settle for a 19mm one. ya 19mm type s ones goes for $50 used and i wouldnt doubt a 22mm type r one goes for 150. but that new and its type r.. you know how alot of people are crazy for type r products. i think this one rsx site(i think it was a sister site to majestic honda) has the type s sway bar for 70 new....
but ya you could find the 19mm type s sway bar for $50 at clubrsx.com.... plenty of people seling theirs

I'll check if anyone in the NO Cali section has it and see if they'd be interested in doing a comparison with me. If possible It'll be a review (or two) so you can get more than one person's perspective. I'm going to expect my car to be the superior one in the handling department.
